    TW: suicide???

An autopsy report seen by Newsweek showed Ge was found tied with a bedsheet, with linens around his wrists and ankles in what the report described as a “hog-tied” position. The medical examiner noted that there had been other reported incidents of people who had hung themselves having done something similar, and that there were no obvious defense wounds.

Am I missing something here? How does someone hogtie themselves and then hang themselves? How is this being considered a suicide? Am I on crazy pills?

It’s not uncommon in Russia for people to commit suicide with a couple gunshots to the head, and then jumping out the window.

It’s the same sense that Epstein “committed suicide.”

A lot of people seem to “commit suicide” who were inconvenient to this Admin

David B. Rankin, the family’s attorney, in a statement to Newsweek: “It is truly mystifying how any detention facility can let someone leave their room, create three nooses and then hang themselves without anyone knowing. What’s worse is the lack of mental health care which could have prevented this tragedy. Mr. Ge’s death represents a totally failure on the part of the GeoGroup and the DHS.”

Seems like everyone is playing along with the claim of suicide while trying to get the details from DHS/GeoGroup.

The “nothing ever happens” crowd is doing their best to ensure that, while everything happens, you remain passively accepting of it.

We can round up people into death camps while our president has clearly raped children. Just as long as you keep going to work and “feeling crazy” thinking no one cares.

The place you won’t feel crazy is around other like minded people that ARE doing something. If you’re not working with a group like DSA, PSL, Mutual Aid groups, or hell, even your local anarchist group, you should be.

If you feel crazy it’s because you are for not doing anything. There is nothing crazy about what is happening to this country. It is textbook fascism mixed with the non action of liberals pretending to be the opposition to it. And that right now comes in the form of “pointing at bad thing” to give you a false sense of security in your inaction.

Even the comments here are filled with it. The doomerism that keeps us all from acting.

I imagine there are legal issues with reporting anything other than the official cause of death that Newsweek don’t want to get into so they just laid everything out nice and factually so that readers can come to their own conclusion…

That’s not an excuse. If our news media isn’t brave enough to call a spade a spade they are nothing more than a tool for complacency. Which they are.

A free and independent media would not be afraid to point out that a suicide as an “official” cause of death here is bull shit. That’s not something covering their ass legally. I swear people don’t know how US lible laws work. Saying that is clear freedom of the press. And it’s really sad that we all started to pretend that the news medias job is just to repeat the words of the powerful.

Put your head in the noose, tie your feet, tie your hands, probably using your mouth to pull the knot, and then do the drop. The reason for this would be to beat survival instinct.

Yes, but it describes it as hog tied, which is your feet ti d to your hands behind your back. I don’t think I could hog tie myself, let alone hang myself after.

He’s found hog-tied and hanging, and it’s declared a suicide?

It also said that several others have died in a similar manner.

How does someone who is hog-tied commit suicide? And how does it get to be a common method of suicide?

The more likely scenario is that they tie up people in this manner for some reason (torture, punishment, entertainment) and if they die, they report it as suicide, and nobody questions it.

In some places in the world, some people seem to get incredibly clumsy when they’re near open windows. In others, they have very guilty consciences to the point of killing themselves.

He was accused of accessing a device issued to another who did not authorize its use, conspiracy – accessing a device issued to another who did not authorize use, theft by deception—false impression, conspiracy—theft by deception, criminal use of a communication facility, and unlawful use of a computer—access to disrupt function.

Uhh are we sure a different agency didn’t perhaps target him for arrest bc they thought he was a spy, and then murder him while in custody? This doesn’t seem like run of the mill trumped up ice bullshit.

Not that they wouldn’t torture and murder somebody, but this seems a bit more professional than I would expect CBP to pull off. Especially if it’s true he didn’t have any defensive marks.

Never really thought about how easy it might be to sprinkle in a few government trained assassins in the chaos of every new batch of rushed ice recruits. Like if you had already been keeping people on a DHS watchlist for decades beforehand, this could be an easy way to detain them without drawing attention.

To be fair, they also said “with hands and feet tied.” They’re avoiding getting into legal hot water and all the readers know this smells like murder.

And yet they are reporting this as “suicide”, I suppose taking the ICE medical examiner’s word as truth. That’s some mighty bad journalism as far as I’m concerned.

I mean, they’re also putting all the facts they have in the story. They’re just adding official administration-aligned labels so that the powers that be leave them alone.

It’s like if a science teacher at a Catholic school did a whole unit on evolution, saying “God created this universe, including the amazing way that DNA mutation enables species to differentiate over long periods of time. We can thank God for this complex environment, which provides various ecological and geographical pressures that drive the process of evolution.” (Just throw in the key word they’re looking for a few times and get on with your job)

So in other words they are capitulating to fascists, when the responsible thing to do would be to report that ICE is claiming this isna suicide, not that it is a suicide. Sounds like shitty journalism.

Well, it’s a shitty situation in a shitty country, that much is certain.

But there’s also a cost/benefit analysis to do here. They have to weigh the likelihood that Trump starts making their job harder, or even impossible to do vs the cost presented by the lack of clarity and possible loss of integrity that reporting like this introduces. Ultimately, they must have decided that it was better to do politically compromised reporting that let the story go unreported.

I mean it’s not a good situation for journalists in this country, I don’t envy them.

Does anyone have a list of all ICE detention facilities?

Not for any particular reason. Definitely not to see if anything can be done to free the victims.

Definitely not so that international efforts could help coordinate the rescue of the victims.

If a 4 goon squad kicks in a door and 2 or 3 come out alive after meeting a 12 gauge, eventually they’re gonna have to try a lot harder to recruit.

Problem is, that tipping point means immediate bloodshed all over. I honestly don’t know of any other way to beat a Nazi than with a bullet to the head.

Oh, there’s a lot of ways to beat Nazis without bullets to the head. Bullets to major organs and vessels will do it. Fire is pretty effective, more so if you use thermite (I fucking love thermite). Carbon monoxide, compressed nitrogen, chlorine gas.

Rapid percussive force. Blood loss in general. A baseball bat. Hell the katana you’ve been saving for situations like this. Bows. Not crossbows, interestingly.

Yeah. Nazis are just squishy monsters with a crunchy interior.
