Pixel 8, 2 or 3 years old, got a pink line on one side of the screen. Used it like that before I thought about repair, and it turns out my phone was valid for an extended warranty.

Drove an hour to my easiest repair centre, got it done with zero required documentation I spent hours trying to get an I’m now the happy owner of a shiny new screen.

I wish i could have saved the petrol money and fixed it myself, but at least I got a £175-ish repair done for free, and a fresh warranty on the screen to boot!

    There are Pixel repair centers?
I thought, you would have to send the phones in for repair…

    But apart from that:
    Great for you!

(And I also still remember the time it was quite easy to exchange the screen - did it without much hassle on my Galaxy S2 back in the day. No glued together parts, just screws and re-attachable connectors.)

Oh wow, I got my phone replaced too! Except the new replacement is having battery issues already. I had the phone shut off without warning around 10% and just today I had the phone drop from 9% to 0 in the span of a few minutes. Had to work without my music :/

I dont know what to do now. My warranty expires on the 25th and I spent so long in hell/purgatory trying to get FedEx to just properly deliver my phone too for 5 days straight. The driver wouldn’t knock and would just leave a note instantly. Had to spend an hour on the phone just to get them to hold the package.

Ugh I didn’t think getting my phone replacement would be this difficult and involved. I’m stressed over it. Don’t buy a foldable phone, the screen protector peels after a year or so and the screen ends up getting damaged if you don’t replace the screen protector in time…

I attempted to replace the screen on a Pixel 6a that was returned by an employee at my place of work.

Didn’t go so well; I somehow broke off some pins of the screen connector on the mainboard…

Nice! Wonder if you can get the battery swapped while the screen is off. Would be like a new phone then

I might have been able to (for a price)! In all honesty I love this phone, and depending on the cost of a replacement phone when the time comes I might just look into it.

It’s the second best one I’ve ever had (the first was my beloved Xperia X which was amazing.
