I could maybe give them benefit of doubt if they were sleep deprived or stoned and made the mistake for a second before fixing it, but to type out an entire bad review and take pictures of it all? That’s a lot of chances for them to notice the mistake before posting lol

Technology@lemmy.world•Jensen Huang: Israel has become Nvidia’s second homeEnglish
3·2 months agoLisa Su, the CEO of AMD, is related to Jensen Huang; they are first cousins once removed. Hopefully she doesn’t closely follow Jensen’s beliefs, I just thought it was something worth mentioning.

US Authoritarianism@lemmy.world•Hegseth boosts Minneapolis immigration siege, approving use of military base
3·2 months agoThis is great advice, thank you again! I will closely be looking further into these links you sent me when I get back home. I was thinking about using a translate app as a way to communicate. Perhaps a real-time translation app? I am not sure yet. I feel horrible that my neighborhood is at risk. We had someone come through in a truck with a loudspeaker saying things in spanish. It is getting concerning. Not even just the ICE stuff, everything else too.
Glad to have people like you to keep the community safe. Thanks once again.

2·2 months agoThank you so much for the info. My neighbor’s speak Spanish so unfortunately I don’t have much of a relationship to them, but I want to help any way I realistically can.

US Authoritarianism@lemmy.world•Hegseth boosts Minneapolis immigration siege, approving use of military base
8·2 months agoThe question is, will these laws be seen as mere suggestions and largely ignored until after the fact?
“it’s better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission”
The US seems to be pretty lawless right now for those in power. It’s scary.

Technology@lemmy.world•Wine 11 runs Windows apps in Linux and macOS better than everEnglish
10·2 months agoI can’t speak for other programs, but for example, Photoshop runs under wine mostly. The issue is certain features like the content aware tool are locked behind the stupid Adobe Creative Cloud BS and is reported to have issues depending on which version you’re using and what tools you care about. IIRC, it’s mostly the newer AI tools that are affected so maybe linux users won’t care as much, but its still a downside worth noting nonetheless.
Most of the time when Adobe products are mentioned in this context, people will instead offer alternatives rather than telling you to run it under wine. It really depends on what programs professionals are using at their jobs though, and I imagine most will just use Windows on a separate work computer and not deal with the random issues with compatibility and troubleshooting. I think most wouldn’t want to risk losing important work related projects either. If its something more simple like Microsoft Word then you could probably get away with using it on linux though.
Isn’t the whole point of the verification checkmark is to make sure nobody impersonate well known people/organizations? I know Twitter eventually turned it into a whole cash grab subscription and ruined the concept, but on most other platforms it isn’t treated like some premium subscription and is just a means of knowing who is who.
Hard to save anything at all when a majority of it goes to bills/rent/mortgages ect…

News@lemmy.world•Verizon to stop automatic unlocking of phones as FCC ends 60-day unlock rule
6·2 months agoYep, that’s what I did too. A few years ago I bought my phone straight from the manufacturers website already unlocked. Tmobile is ripping me off big time now, so I’m looking into prepaid options right now. I’m kinda unsure how the process will go, do you happen to know if I could keep my old T-mobile number when switching to these prepaid options? Because that’s is the only thing that makes me feel stuck with Tmobile. It is an absolute pain in the ass switching over all your online accounts that are tied to your old phone number. They treat that like it’s your social security number lol

43·2 months agoOh, good timing. I am trying to switch phone service and bring my unlocked phone to a new carrier, thanks for the heads up! I’ll be sure to add Verizon to my shit list.
Idk why Netflix is still showing people ads then…
