Christa Pike was “angry and confused” in the hours after regaining consciousness following Tennessee’s failed execution attempt, first asking, “Where am I?” her lawyer said Wednesday.

Pike, believed to be the first person to survive after receiving lethal injection drugs during an execution, stunningly woke up as plans were being made to remove her from life support, just six days after she was strapped to a gurney in the death chamber, said attorney Randy Spivey.

“But on Tuesday, to the shock of everyone … Christa woke up and began talking,” Spivey said.

They took their shot, and they missed. To try to execute her again would be Cruel & Unusual. She shouldn’t be released, but her sentence should be commuted to Life without Parole.

Why without parole? She clearly needed therapy before she committed the murder, why keep denying it now? If she reaches a state where she is no danger to others, she should have a chance to try and rehabilitate. Her victim never had a chance, but two wrongs don’t make a right.

Hopefully she sues and it takes years to resolve.

And the courts block her execution until the case is resolved

And when it is resolved the fever dream that is MAGA republicans in power is once again over and a moratorium on the death penalty is once again in place
