Emergency department (ED) visits for gambling disorders doubled following the legalization of single-event sports betting and expansion of Ontario’s online gambling market, according to a new study from ICES. The increase was observed predominantly among young men.
and the advertising for this crap is everywhere and most worrying it’s pretty much the ONLY advertising in Toronto’s financial district. Walk the Path there between the big bank buildings and every ad is for gambling sites. those are the LAST people I want becoming gambling addicts.
Shitty reality is that gambling facilitates most professional sports. It’s most obvious in blood sports like boxing, and later UFC.
The whole point is to keep the odds close to 50:50 so that rich fucks can feel something again.

The newest ads show middle-aged women with dissatisfied lives, with families that are ignoring her or exploiting her, then Ferris Beuhller sidles up and shows them this hot new Candy Crush phone game that isn’t sports oriented, and now she’s having fun that her family doesn’t know about. It’s her own little financial affair.
In many families, Mom is in charge of the household expenses, and in a couple of years, we’ll be seeing stories of women who gambled away the family home.
