You are missing the forest for the trees. The US is our single biggest threat and its not outside the realm of possible that Trump will threaten strikes on Canada. First Nations are amongst the most pro crown, pro-supreme court of Canada, pro-court groups in Canada because they have relentlessly pursued justice through court cases and have slowly established a strong predicent.
98% of First Nations voted to stay in Canada during Quebecs last referendum and the Albertan chiefs have flat out rejected leaving their relationship with the crown behind.
