    Technically, when installing a fitgirl rip, it is doing an extraction only, just with some extra UI elements and other features like installing dependencies.

      With the added complexity that it can fail for reasons I don’t comprehed. If it was just extracting that wouldn’t fail under any circumstances.

        Never had a fitgirl install fail. Make sure your download was complete and not corrupted or missing required files. And make sure you have enough RAM not including swap. Some of these games use pretty heavy compression that uses a whole lot of RAM. And it seems swap sometimes causes the decompression to fail. Not sure why though.

        The only times it has failed on me was because either the storage device or RAM were faulty. It’s definitely worth it to check both for errors every once in a while, as financially devastating as it is to replace either.
