One big issue is that not everyone on the registry is actually a sex offender. There are plenty of people who end up on it for shit like pissing in an alley across the street from a playground on their way back from the bar at 2am.
I was close to ending up on it for taking a piss on the side of the road because every gas station was closed. I even walked a bit into the woods, but the cop didn’t care. Luckily he was called away to an actual emergency before arresting me.
This is also why the death penalty is so problematic.

I don’t have much time for pedos, But if you wanna try vigilanteeism, the only thing that’s gonna happen realistically if you’re going to wind up in prison. Yeah, you might get a few good hits on them or they’ll even kill them. But the end of the day you’re still in jail or prison. So if they’re alive and you beat the shit out of them, now you get stalking charge harassment charge, assault and battery charge. And once you have those charges on your record, good luck on getting a decent paying job. You won’t even get the interviews. Might make feel good, but good luck on paying your bills.
If you killed them now, you’re in jail for murder. Or manslaughter depending on.
Exactly how was that successful? how is that a good thing in any way shape or form? Your life is fucked.
