Hey! Tried my BOS for the first time. However my ferro rod got bumpy and now refuses to make sparks. Do you have this type of problem with yours ?
If the rod looks like
its ribbed for their pleasurea washboard on the surface, that’s a totally normal issue with ferrocerium rods. It’s caused by inconsistent pressure when scraping, youtube has some vids on technique that are hilarious for the intensity with which the presenters treat the subject - but the fix is just to get a nice metal file and smooth it back out (!!! DO NOT DO THIS OVER A FLAMMABLE SURFACE !!!)Hey thanks man 🙏. Much appreciated

Mine have been real workhorses for a few years now - my only wisdom to impart is that the steel holds an edge beautifully, but keep it dry because it’ll develop surface rust surprisingly fast, and that the scales tend to get dried out and really benefit from being pulled off and given a nice soak in wood conditioner (howard feed-n-wax is my favorite, for entirely childhood imprinting reasons) + a buff with some high grit sandpaper once you put them back on. Really lovely knives.
