    Citing an April 2025 report, the document notes that Pakistan imported 17 gigawatts of solar power systems in 2024, double the previous year, making it the world’s third-largest importer of solar panels, driven by rising electricity tariffs and declining panel prices.

    The interesting thing is that unofficially lots of home solar has been installed already.

      Yeah. Pakistan bought overpriced coal plants from China, pushing the cost of grid power up to unaffordable levels. So everybody who could switched to solar + battery

      I believe Pakistan is now on the hook to pay for the coal burning power plants that they don’t use out of tax money
