The size of an inch or a centimeter is arbitrary. In fact, all measurements other than natural units are arbitrary. Units need not scale linearly either. E.g. dB or the Richter Scale. A women’s number 11 or a size 10 shoe or a meter are all equally valid units of measure. What is fucked is the delineation of “men’s” and “women’s” sizes and the fact that women’s clothes have fewer and shallower pockets.

Let’s be super real though. The multiple choice questions on those exams are fucking horse shit. Nobody gives a fuck about the content of those passages. I skimmed them and circled all c so I could leave.
And as a physics professor, the math is fucking horse shit. Cave dwellers like me will use things that are proximally related as viewed through a telescope. Everyone else learns it for these exams and nothing else
The only thing these exams test is the color of people who can afford after school test prep to learn how to best and most brainlessly eliminate the wrong answers and guess. (It’s the white people)

Once you download wikipedia, you can edit it and distribute. Other people with their own copies can merge your changes into theirs, or you can push your changes upstream. Even if they need to be signed to accepted. Doesn’t that make Wikipedia more like the Linux Kernel and less like The Encyclopedia Britannica? Sure, for the kernel there is a “main and central” repo, but the whole point of git is that it isn’t centralized. It’s distributed.
In fact, in a loose way, wikipedia meets the criteria of Free Software. You can:

Agreeish? (M)any one of us can download wikipedia. Does that still make it centralized when it is designed to be distributed that easily? That design choice is baked into the ethos. Centralized vs. Decentralized seems not to be binary.

What we call a centimeter can be however large we choose. Say it were twice as large as it is now and we all agreed that size is a centimeter. What if we chose the inch and the centimeter to be the same size? Agreement doesn’t negate the fact that we could have chosen it to be any arbitrary size.
The only true “universals” are universal constants like the speed of light or Planck’s Constant. They set boundaries and scales irrespective of the units we use to describe them.
