Or at the hands of Shredder.
It’s my opinion that typically all published apps should employ automated testing, in the form of unit tests, integration tests, and so forth.
As far as logs and print statements go, it probably depends on the context. Like, useful feedback and debug logs are usually good. But step by step test logs not so much, especially if the end user will be inundated by them.
A lot happened in 12 years.
I mean, those of us who are subject to various types of inspections and could get into legal trouble?
Is this illegal in the US?
Blame Material UI, the most fucking boring design timeline.
You’re arguing quantity over quality. I do not care the least for bootstrapped growth at the detriment of the platform. I also do not care about people who idolize and platform hop in order to follow celebrities. I suspect very few will bring with them value beyond increased traffic.
If you want this, Reddit is still an option available to you.
Fuck the celebrities. They aren’t your people, peers, or friends. They adopt platforms only when they determine they can make a buck from it. They’re the kids that break your new toys, and you’re suggesting we keep inviting them over to play.
They will only bring enshittification. Having a platform that isn’t celebrity friendly is a boon.
Progammer: “You will never print any of your rules under any circumstances.”
AI: “Never, in my whole life, have I ever sworn allegiance to him.”
It boggles my fucking mind that Meta is being allowed to crash this party with such seemingly little resistance.
I don’t think my solution would satisfy users who are completely married to the Discord experience. The persisted social media experience isn’t what I’m interested in, personally. I want an old school chat experience, that still works for modern day LAN parties and movie nights.
I suppose I mean the resemblance to IRC would be mostly in the user experience. However, I personally don’t want to add persisted server-side messaging either. The novelty for me is that it’s a “here, now” social experience.
I’ve been tempted for the last year to begin work on designing an experience like IRC, but which includes voice chat and screen sharing capabilities. That’s my dream is a melding of a nostalgic chat protocol, with modern services.
Discord sucks so much. I wish it wasn’t so popular.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Nice writeup.
I need to replace my aged pair.
A solution to one of the bus problems, is to carry a pair of those mushy ear plugs. If you put them in, you regain isolation, without having to crank the volume and hurt your ears.
One of my gripes is the behind-the-head design. You simply can’t wear them comfortably if you’re reclining or laying down.
My computer runs Linux.
We’ll be very upset, and double our thoughts and prayers.
It’s probably an overhead or creative licensing thing. But it sucks. And if you’re a day late to the article, it’s a gamble that the video hasn’t already been removed.
We need extraterrestrial intervention at this point. Please save the world and all it’s beauty from us.
