  • Keep dreaming! Chrome OS and Chromebooks in general are nearly as expensive as actual windows PCs with 5%the functionality. Just go straight up Linux at that point!! Free, open source, EASY to install or dual boot even. It is far better than anything Google would put out.

If you’ve never tried it, follow any one of the million guides for Ubuntu or Mint and you’ll be amazed. Even Steam OS, CachyOS, ZorinOS, or other gaming oriented systems.

I forget this isn’t the privacy thread, but you can’t just “hope” Google’s going to fix everything wrong with Windows when they’re doing the same exact thing as each other. You want to break free, you want functional, you want privacy, get Linux.

  • If you’ve never “practiced” a religion, then its pretty easy to be judgmental towards it. Many people grow up in very religious households and it’s hard to beak away from what was so normal for so long. I grew up in one of these households, and while I don’t actively participate in going to church anymore, it still helped shape me to be who I am, and I wouldn’t have such a strong core group of friends without it.

All the crazy stuff people associate with Christians is due to televangelists mostly being predatory, movies/TV, bad spotlight or events coming to light (like ~20 years ago there media focused on all the Catholic boys who were molested by various priests).

I, myself, am not about to get preachy and defensive towards religion, but I would like to play devils advocate and argue that the racial equality fight, women’s rights, and more recently LGBTQ movement towards equal healthcare and or acceptance is no different than a simple:

“If you’re going to be accepting of somebody, you should be accepting of everybody”.

Funny how some (not specifically picking on you or anyone) can get so defensive and upset fighting for acceptance of one thing while simultaneously they themselves can’t accept others merely for their beliefs… Kind of hypocritical, isn’t it?

  • Amen. Been saying this a while. He knew this shit was coming so he’s was prepared with this Ace up his sleeve.

Step 1: get people addicted, monetize it to no end

Step 2: cover it up and lie about it being fine, spread misinformation of you have to

Step 3: plan a scapegoat tactic as a backup just in case. Maybe 2.

Step 4: buy out politicians who’ll support you when it’s time to take action; like “age verification” as a redirect (as if the gov has ever fine anything promptly!)

Step 5: Get the media to sort of drop coverage to get people to forget about it with other stuff, and watch the lawsuits and trials fade away into the background as there’s no more media coverage for it.

  • That’s not going to happen. They’re going to bring in someone willing to do the dirty work like a Zuck or Altman, and catch up in the data harvesting, but play like they give a shit. “We protect your data from 3rd parties” while hoarding and monetizing it for themselves… They’re not innocent. I’m fact, their no better than Google or Microsoft.

When they stopped being able to convince everyone they needed a new phone every year, or accessories, now they just compensate by selling your data.
