Seeing the public reaction to some of the military adjacent cases over the past few years has been incredibly disheartening (e.g. McBride)

And I’m sure inevitably, the site will become harder to run as more and more companies enter the shit list. Over time - features will be cut to save effort. List entry will be out sourced. The company itself, of course, will not see the irony. Finally - a new website emerges to track the enshittification of enshittification tracking websites. And the prophecy continues.

Technology@lemmy.world•Streaming Has Reached Its Sad, Predictable Fate | What should I watch? is now a much easier question than How do I watch it?English
9·2 years agoI think this is true for most people on Lemmy. But I do wonder what the average streaming users will do. What about “free” streaming platforms like Channel 4 in the UK? Content is king, and the path of least resistance will always trump.

This is a bigger change, but I switched to Bandcamp and listen to music I own. I like the process of finding music I like and saving it to my wishlist, and I mass-purchase whenever Bandcamp Friday comes around so the artist gets the whole paycheck.
It depends how much music you listen to though, and how much variety you need day to day. Realise it’s a bit more involved than algorithm based streaming but I also feel a lot more like I’ve built a library just for me.
