It’s not anger, I know people who praise Thatcher and it is unpleasant. Having one more argument against her in the conversations is a positive improvement on my life.

I feel like you’re confusing the “look” with “layout”. Colors, margins, element sizes are not properly aligned, and it creates genuine physical discomfort

It looks the same as it did when I formed my opinion, and I keep checking it out on a yearly basis. I sincerely want to use it, but I get physical discomfort every time I open it. I have put a lot of effort into forcing myself to accept poorly designed foss alternatives but the look and feel of Libreoffice is simply intolerable.
it is not genetic, it is environmental. Children of parents with less intelligence will not be raised to be intelligent. They might be lucky/resilience and try to get the most support outside the house, but it is much harder to accomplish, and often is even met with harassment at home, due to the rest of the family being insecure about their own lack of intelligence. And that is only if they rebel, which is not necessarily true as they will not only lack easy access to basic knowledge about the world/science, but will also not be introduced to the importance of learning about it from their closest figures of authority. Escaping that cycle it is even harder if the family is facing economic hardship, which is true for most modern families in general. It really isn’t that hard to figure that out, the kneejerk reaction that the statement always gets is annoying.

I’ve heard good things about it, looking forward to learning it (hopefully soon)

yes I heard it’s great. Scala was one language where I didn’t constantly feel like getting hit in the head with a hammer and I’ve heard Kotlin has a similar experience. I’m not interested in Android development so I haven’t tried it

the can’t add proper typing without adding a compiler. Whatever they add will be closer to puthon’s type hints. I’ve had to write primary in python lately and type hints help very very slightly, and tools like pyright catch so many false errors due to lack of hints in libraries that we’re forced to add ignore statements on too many lines. I genuinely don’t understand how there can be so many languages and all of them be painful to use

Typescript is the only way I can agree to code in Javascript. And the only way you can have a sane project without writing double or triple the amount if unit tests for each function just to check things that a compiler would do. However it is absolutely a lipstick on a pig thing with confusing behavior sometimes, but that’s because the underlying language it is trying to make bearable is bonkers

Thank you for the explanation

generation for cellular data, not wifi. I liked this video that explains it

Funny how it left out model collapse

What are they talking about, self checkouts are great. It makes the shopping experience more fair for those with fewer items

Yes :) Thanks for your work!

It’s called “Bean for Lemmy”. I really enjoy how it looks.

I wish I had written down the bug, but it’s possible that was the reason, because the client started saying “invalid login” while I was already logged in. The thing is, I then visited the website and had trouble logging in there too, it kept getting stuck on loading. I clicked “rest password” and it finally logged in 😅. Then I tried changing my password and at that point apple keychain’s autofill might’ve messed up and remembered a wrong one. I now reset it again and the client works.

I think these numbers are really good. I was using Memmy client before and for some reason it always displayed lower than actual count of comments on posts, so I had the impression that activities were really dying down. I wouldn’t click a post to go to comments because I thought there were barely any, so I would scroll through everything so fast that for a while I stopped browsing altogether. Feels nice to be back - with a different account because lemm.ee started having a weird bug for logging in
I wish the interpreter cared about assignment
