If the time differences for games wasn’t so harsh, I would absolutely watch rugby. And Aussie rules football.

Hockey is a rich white people game, at least in North America. I love it, but it is what it is. By limiting hockey to mostly rich white kids, the talent pool has dried up and the quality of the games has really suffered. And they want to expand even more because “money”.

Baseball is cheap to play. Basketball is cheap to play. Soccer (sorry rest of the world) is cheap to play. Football is even cheap to play. Hockey? Two pounds of flesh and your first born, for a stick.

It’s deeper than that. It’s century-old grievances bundled with anti-vaxers losing their minds during covid lockdowns (border blocking, trucker circle jerks, shutting down Ottawa, etc.). Once covid was done they needed a new cause and the seditionists locked on to that rage.
