Quite simple, actually. If you want to do a thing that violates a law, you modify the law to allow the thing.

Riiiiight, a chromium fork with questionable crypyo and a history of even more questionable decisions (referral scam or not blocking all the trackers, for example) is better than a non-chromium non-fork with no crypto and a history of questionable decisions.
- Compile jvm into wasm
- ???
- Be universally hated

fl42v@lemmy.mlOPto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•You can certainly change it. But should you?2·1 year agoI mean, changing a
const
is itself a questionable move (the question being whether the one doing it is insane)
fl42v@lemmy.mlOPto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•You can certainly change it. But should you?10·1 year agoI thought of it more in terms of changing constants (by casting the
const
away). AFAIK when it’s notvolatile
, the compiler can place it into read-only data segment or make it a part of some other data, etc. So, technically, changing aconst volatile
would be less of a UB compared to changing a regularconst
(?)
Go has the single easiest to Google name of any programming language.
Ackchually
Correct, yet I personally don’t find it too useful and sometimes harmful when dealing with, for example, password managers
Can I use AwesomeWM, XMonad, or StumpWM on Wayland?
Can you run macos software on linux?
Can I run a GUI program over ssh?
This is more of a why would you… Although, waypipe
Does it support the X selection and clipboard protocols?
Too lazy to google, but overall clipboard works as expected, both C-c and text selection. I remember experiencing problems with clipboards in vim (like 2 yrs ago) which were fixed by switching to nvim

fl42v@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft is adding a new key to PC keyboards for the first time since 1994English1·1 year agoIs this one supposed to be worse? 'Cause rn it’s marginally better (split spacebar => ~3 keys for each thumb instead of 2.5).
fl42v@lemmy.mlto Fediverse@lemmy.world•How to Kill a Decentralised Network (such as the Fediverse)English1·1 year agoWell, if met
ha decides to interop, activity pub can launch some propaganda to make users “just switch”, I guess. I mean it’s somewhat different from the situation with xmpp and google as most sane ppl already know fb’s crap isn’t good for your data… So maybe smth like “remember that cool shiny thingy people were leaving xitter for? Guess what, now you can talk there with your grandma without subjecting yourself to fb’s shady practices” could work given interop works good enough.P.S. that specification under a EULA actually sounds like a good idea if you put it a bit differently: whatever implements this specification should be published under one of $insert_a_set_of_licenses. Then whatever proprietary garbage creator that decides to join will be forced to do this via bridges, and others can tell them to fix their crap 😁
fl42v@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.world•Ifixit gives fairphone 5 a 10/10 on repairability and maintanenceEnglish7·1 year agoMore repairable compared to pretty much everything released nowadays, but no 3.5 jack. And yap, the latter part sucks
Although, to me those scores don’t mean shit. Like damn, smth like 1+ 5(t) requires to remove just a few more screws to do the same stuff (yap, on mine I replaced the display, battery, and that flexpcb with ports 2-3 times). Yeah, okay, it’s still has decent 7/10; but wait, what’s that, crapple phone 14+ also has 7/10… Do I need to elaborate on why it’s bullshit? Just software pairing alone should automatically mean negative final mark
Aaand then we have 1+ 6, which gets 5/10 despite internally being pretty much the same as op5 except the back being glass and not proper metal.

fl42v@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit now blocks signed out VPN connections.English1·1 year agoTo me split tunneling just sounds like “traffic matching certain rules is routed differently”, and the rules depend on the configuration 🤷
Like mobile protonvpn lets you include/exclude certain apps/ips; desktop wireguard has allowed ips, etc.
Yeah, I believe that won’t work. The tape is supposed to be blue
Reminded me one of the vids of f4mi, although that ladiy’s approach is far more beautiful. Basically, she took advantage of ai scrapers relying on subtitles and YouTube allowing for pretty advanced styling of those very subtitles to insert garbage that only bots will see.
