Trump’s propaganda engine will spin this so they can say, “See?! Real Nazis want to kill Trump, so obviously he’s not fascist!”

That was Trump’s primary directive all along. To tear down the US from being the prime economic/super power. He’s just too fucking idiotic and self-absorbed to truly understand that’s what he’s doing.

Agreed, it’s an awful headline
You could look into it yourself, but here’s a general overview on the US response to disinformation:
https://firstamendment.mtsu.edu/article/disinformation-governance-board/
The Democrats could’ve been pushing harder to address such a serious problem, but they didn’t. And here we are.
Like I said, they’re not entirely to blame, but they’re not blameless.
I don’t disagree, I’m just pointing out that no one wants this and China isn’t going to just magically replace their biggest trading partner overnight, which is why they were legitimately trying to work out a new deal originally.
Trust me, I fully agree the US will be the biggest loser from all of this.
I didn’t say censorship. They could’ve regulated social media as actual Media outlets, which puts them on the hook for libel lawsuits if blatantly fake disinformation is advertised on their platforms. In other words, they have to follow the same rules as traditional media outlets.
“only 15%”? That’s a huge percentage when you look at global trade. In 2023, their next biggest export partner is Hong Kong at 8%, which is now part of China. After that it’s Japan at 5%, followed by South Korea at 4.5%.

The point is, China doesn’t want this trade war at all, and neither do we. Trump and Co. are complete morons that are fucking up the global economy for nonsensical reasons. Yes, other countries can eventually establish new trade deals without the US, and they likely will, but let’s not pretend they all can just bounce back within a few months if these idiotic shenanigans continue.
Certainly, but we’re the biggest consumer economy by a long shot. Trying to replace roughly $600 billion in exports isn’t an easy ask, especially since the next biggest economic bloc after the US and China, the EU, has been trying to move away from over reliance on China for years.
They’re not blameless. They’re not entirely to blame, but they could’ve regulated social media to dampen disinformation when they had the chance.
though some suspiciously are.
Some? A huge portion are. Numerous others have replicated it with visual proof. I agree that the news sites should be verifying it, but NYT did and also documented their proof.
AI is useful for basic, mundane tasks and that’s about it. Trying to force it to be some sort of Uber search engine is such a bad idea.
No other candidate in recent US history that I can recall has been offering million dollar lotteries for voting. He’s barely skirting the law, since he isn’t paying people to actually vote. However, the tactic and intent is blatantly transparent.
As far as I know, Jack Dorsey left Bluesky almost a year ago: https://www.businessinsider.com/jack-dorsey-bluesky-twiiter-nostr-interview-2024-5
His interview on the topic: https://www.piratewires.com/p/interview-with-jack-dorsey-mike-solana
I have to somewhat agree with him that Bluesky is still very much susceptible to turning into Twitter all over again. Right now, it definitely feels like Twitter in its infancy but with all the modern QoL features we expect to have nowadays. Which is nice, of course. Twitter didn’t used to be such a toxic shithole of bots and disinformation, it used to be a powerful communication tool for activism and journalists covering rapidly evolving events live.
However, the endgame of such platforms is inevitable. Higher user saturation means higher operating costs, which then usually means the company has a higher reliance on advertising, which then leads to more algorithms and data mining for targeted ads, which then leads to easier mass political manipulation campaigns.
I’m not sure if it’s actually possible to attract mass audience without an algorithm driven model. Mastodon tried and it’s had some moderate success, but because it’s completely devoid of algorithms, users have a harder time discovering people/accounts/mindless entertainment. That’s the only reason I can think of as to why Bluesky took off so much faster.
I truly hope this leads to the collapse of Chrome’s sheer market dominance. Fuck Google.
I work with government admins a lot and they’ve already told me the shit show they’ve been dealing with regarding feature updates somehow installing themselves on their devices despite it being disabled via GPO. Unfortunately, I think the government will just flex on Microsoft and force them to strip the shit out for their baseline Windows images rather than move to a Linux alternative.
I’d say that the bulk of the sales decline are primarily rooted in the fact that the competition has outdone Tesla on pricing and quality. Way too many stories of Tesla cars dying from a simple rainy day or driving through puddles and then the company fucking the customers over by not covering those incidents under the warranty with bullshit excuses.
Even then. I won’t be excited until any of these supposed foundries are actually producing chips.
Img2img isn’t always spot-on with what you want it to do, though. I was making extra pictures for my kid’s bedtime books that we made together and it was really hit or miss. I’ve even goofed around with my own pictures to turn myself into various characters and it doesn’t work out like you want it to much of the time. I can imagine it’s the same when going for porn, where you’d need to do numerous iterations and tweaking over and over to get the right look/facsimile. There are tools/SD plugins like Roop which does make transferring over faces with img2img easier and more reliable, but even then it’s still not perfect. I haven’t messed around with it in several months, so maybe it’s better and easier now.
Way to contribute productive discourse to the comment actually doing something and proving they put their money where their mouth is.
