The Constitution was written to enshrine Oligarchy, and sold as “Democracy” to those unwilling or unable to read and/or comprehend it. In the original, the only people with any rights and power were Rich, White, Males. The window dressing has changed over the decades, but the core remains. Rich White Males still own and operate the United States. There was no love in that document for anyone other than the Oligarchs.

You talk as though trusting the USA is a good thing, something to be regained. The U.S. is and always has been a genocidal, slave-owning, patriarchal oligarchy that masquerades as a “democracy”. I am actually quite happy to see tRump destroy the U.S. standing in the world, he has done more to destroy the evil empire in 4 months than anyone else in its entire history. It truly is a glorious thing.
Enough micro-sabotage by enough people will in time corrupt the databases enough that people will stop trusting (and at some point stop using) them. It is happening already if reports of deliberate disinformation in the LLMs can be believed.
