That’s because we don’t use other messaging apps like what’s app, not because of Apple. It would be the same thing on android. iMessage also sends texts to non Apple devices.

That’s fair. I’ve had plenty of instances where that’s happened to me and making the mistake is embarrassing itself. I hope you don’t have my habit of mulling things like this over for days or even weeks.

One question to ask is are you sure they were making fun of you and there’s no way you misinterpreted it? As for whether to go or not I’d say don’t. It won’t be satisfying to you no matter the outcome. And if you’re wrong on the assessment of the situation you’re putting someone else into a very embarrassing and humiliating situation themselves. Not saying you are but it can be difficult to judge a situation especially given how our neurodivergence works.

I haven’t been on one of these in a very long time but when I was regularly using them I just treated every encounter like an experiment to see what might get a response. Nothing bad or crass but ranging from lighthearted, funny, etc, etc. anyways, it helped me get a better feel for how to do an opener and made further conversation a lot easier for me too.

Why is this a thing? I like iMessage but is there a reason people are trying to force their way into the protocol or whatever? Just to show blue or is there something unique to iMessage that no one else has?

A. Why is this a generational thing? I guess you’re a boomer or xer? B. 1 or two satellites or space stations are neat. Your story was from a time when not every company in the world could get something up there with little regulation. C. Yeah, nature is always more beautiful than our creations.
