Nestlé VPN
I’m conflicted. I really appreciated the quote at the beginning but the actual article seems so poorly written. Grammatical errors, run-on sentences, etc. Gave up half way through.
I just want to start off by saying Arrrr, I’m on your side.
But I just don’t follow the logic. Netflix is selling both service and content. When people pay for Netflix… yes they pay for infrastructure related to streaming content. They also pay toward the cost of producing original content and acquiring licenses.
I’ve seen this saying going around and while I do like it, something about it bugs me. These corpos want to treat everything as a service. If you acquire content from a service via illegal means you are indeed still stealing, no?
This story has essentially caused a 20% off coupon for Assassin’s Creed Mirage to circulate my lemmy feed for the past 2 days. I am a chubby man with a weak heart that hungers for these types of comfort food games and this subliminal advertising is hard for me to resist.
I’ve had the same thought before but then I don’t want to become one of those older out of touch people. I think each generation feels like the world was in better shape when they were younger. But the truth is that many of the young kids today will look back on 2023 with the same fondness and nostalgia as I do when I think about the 1990s. Back in the day older people would warn us that video games and television would rot our brains. Now we warn our kids that TikTok will do the same. Everything is always getting faster and faster but young people are adaptable and I think they’ll find their way.
I googled it and the last game released on the Xbox 360 was Just Dance 2019. Not as long ago as I would have thought!
Block the rich: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/block-the-rich/
Thank you 😊
My solution is to block them from my consciousness by default. Then when I feel like catching up I’ll temporarily disable the plugin (I just added this feature). This way I can have the best of both worlds!
If any one of these people actually goes to prison I promise to ship myself to you in a giant cake and let you know in person.
Thank you so much for trying it out! This truly is a very early prototype I quickly threw together. Given how much interest Lemmy has for the extension I will keep actively developing it. Maybe someday I can reach a state where the extension will be actually useful to you.
I couldn’t agree more. Describing the billionaire stream of consciousness that we’re being inundated with as “a DDOS attack” is brilliant. That is exactly how I see it.
I want to take back some control over when I choose to read about these people.
Amazing. Love it!
Nah, let’s look at daily screenshots of Elon’s tweets while we get fucked in the ass. In the end, aren’t we still getting fucked?
I’d rather schedule the fuckings for 9pm Sunday evenings when I disable my plugin for 30 minutes and catch up.
Why can’t I do both? 😊
I am already protesting so many of their services and products.
I do not wish for their stream of consciousness to invade my internet 24/7. I can easily disable my plugin and get a general idea of what they’ve been up to whenever I feel like it.
I try to avoid corpo media as well! But still… if you sort this community by the Top posts in last 24 hours there are a handful of posts about Elon Musk and friends. At least those of us who browse the desktop version of Lemmy can ignore such posts.
I actually agree with you in theory! But in practice, the super rich seem to crave so much of our attention. We are all being inundated with their daily stream of consciousness and that’s what I’d love to help put a stop to.
For example, I truly believe that a certain manchild destroyed nearly 2 decades of brand recognition (twitter) just so he could take over the headlines yet again. I do not use his platform anymore, nor do I really care what he chooses to call it tomorrow.
People like that are not worth our brain cycles.
I laughed out loud at this suggestion. Love it. I can imagine this could lead to some confusion if a user blocks a common name, like John Smith… but let me give it some more thought!
Because they will inevitably target minorities?
