Maybe they should have something like those magnetic self-closing mesh curtains that go in front of open patio doors? Obviously something more solid than mesh - like clear plastic sheets, but it would provide a significant conservation of the cool air while allowing the quick in & out access the drivers need. Similar curtains (more like hanging strips & without the magnetics) are routinely used in the food industry for walk-in refrigeration & freezer units.

Have you seen how much it costs to develop novel drugs? It’s definitely a bit excessive, but also probably not as much as you think.

I think they’d justify that by saying they need to ensure the funds they need for future research on other breakthrough treatments. This is not entirely baseless, but just another nail in the coffin for why medical research shouldn’t be funded primarily through capitalist methods.

They won’t risk it, and they’ll punish him immediately to keep him from getting too big to easily punish later without drawing attention to themselves. Remember that it’s all one league, and if he’s ousted from one team by those running the show, then he’s ousted from them all.

Until the vast majority of voters who are too self-absorbed to bother understanding how they’re being led around the nose into screwing themselves — and blaming the wrong people for said screwing — nothing of any real significance will change. All those dystopian movies have it right: the masses will march like lemmings straight to their own doom before they even begin to question what they’re told. Having just read a post under “The Onion” community, I can’t help but feel I was really set up for this one. What a fucking unbelievable time to be alive.

But the answer to finding yourself being load-bearing is not to start using AI code with AI tests.

The Great Man theory of open source development, where it all hinges on one heroic individual, has always been a fatal weakness. It happens because the companies benefiting from the software just will not pay the individual guys who let their company work. So the companies try to make the guys feel obligated to do work for them for free.

Those guys have to start saying “no.” Go sailing. Declare the project closed and see if the beneficiaries will finally contribute. Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. But no company will put in the developers or money for this stuff to be done until you say “no”.

You heard it from the Ray-Guns first, but apparently you need to hear it again: “Just say no!”

I assume it goes both ways - i.e. there are other countries who laugh at some American names due to how they sound in their local language. It’s just human nature - whether it’s just for the humor, or to ridicule & act condescending will depend upon the individuals involved.
