Isn’t the entire POINT of these to record people without their knowledge or consent? If they couldn’t be disabled they wouldn’t be able to sell them.
They don’t care. Media piracy doesn’t actually hurt them. The people that care about media piracy are basically the patent trolls of the media world who buy up blocks of music and video and collect royalties.

I wonder if humans evolved on a planet with a shitty little moon like this, what would it have done to our views of the heavens? This moon is clearly just an object. It looks like what it is, a rock in space. No one is going to look at this and think that the heavens contain magic and wonders and gods, they would look at this and thing it contains rocks.
Things don’t get cheaper. They might slow down how much they are increasing in price, but don’t expect equipment to somehow revert to something less than what you paid for it.
