Here’s the truth: Soviet Union infact offered to join NATO when it was formed but was rejected because USA and NATO needs a permanent boogeyman to keep selling weapons to its members. NATO rejected peaceful existence with USSR which then led to formation of warsaw pact.

Now operation gladio was also part of suppressing communist ideas illegally even according to liberal standards, tell me what part of contingency is to assassinate communists, plan coups and backing far right militias? I am not surprised by this tho, this is everything liberalism has ever stood for afterall.
