To get Canadian alternatives we’d probably need a crown corporation, simply because under the current market conditions there isn’t going to be a way for a Canadian tech company to enter the market now and compete with the likes of Apple or Google.

I’m all for this, but it’s going to be a very hard sell in the current political climate.

I live in Calgary, and these laws come down to enforcement, and it will not be enforced evenly by CPS. We already have a Charter that CPS will just ignore on a regular basis because it will protect groups CPS brass doesn’t want to protect.

They never have a problem restricting the actions of groups that threaten the status quo, while refusing to enforce rules on groups they sympathize with.

I don’t think these laws really help because of that disparity with enforcement.

This is the correct reaction to a criminal administration violating laws and court orders with impunity, however this is not the reaction we see from most police departments. Police are supposed to work for the community, upholding the communities rules, not for whoever wields the biggest stick, or whoever they agree with politically.

The UCP are desperate to hang onto the name conservative since they’ve given up on conservative values entirely and fallen to Christian Nationalism instead. But they are absolutely reliant on the portion of Albertans who consider themselves tribal conservatives, people who outsource their decision making to those whom they see as tribal authorities.

Not exactly, the CPC was all in with trying to undermine NATO with Trump, I hate what the LPC is doing right now, but as one small example if the CPC was in power right now, PP would be backing Trump’s attempts to make Ukraine capitulate to Putin.

That said, the LPC can pretty much drop the L at this point. I think they’re taking advantage of the fact CPC policy is just vague assertions and thinly veiled revenge plots on democratic institutions. They know full well anyone voting for policy isn’t going to end up voting for the CPC, which they see as their only threat right now.

Conservatives like to point to successful integrations of private and public healthcare systems in other nations, nations where access for private options are made available through public programs and insurance. However in Canada, they want more of an American type system, where access is based solely on one’s ability to pay.

It’s a bait and switch being funded by Canadians entrepreneurs who see how profitable the American health insurance industry is, and want to create that same kind of market here.
