The Picard Maneuver@startrek.websiteto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Should instances defederate with other instances anymore if we can filter instances out on our end?English71·2 years agoI think still yes, when a problem is abundantly clear, but borderline cases can more easily be left to individual preference.

I wonder if that would be an easy way to detect botting by not filling in that field for them.

The Picard Maneuver@startrek.websiteOPto ADHD memes@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Just waiting for that elusive moment of energy+motivation.English41·2 years agoPretty much all symptoms are on a spectrum that also includes “normal”. If it happens significantly more than everyone else and is clustered with some specific other related symptoms, a professional might give you a diagnosis, but I wouldn’t worry about it unless you get to the point that you feel that you need help.
Also, there are way more disorders than measureable symptoms, so there’s a lot of crossover from various causes. For example:
Does person have trouble focusing because of ADHD? Or could it be depression fog? Exhaustion from anxiety? Sleep apnea? Chronic poor diet/fitness? Work burnout? Etc…
The Picard Maneuver@startrek.websiteto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Crossposting to community [Lemmy Feature Request]English21·2 years agoThat would be helpful. I have a Mastodon account that I’m pretty much just using to post my OC trek memes (plus some of my favorites from Risa), and being able to crosspost both ways would be nice.

I’ve used it a handful of times and it seems pretty straightforward.
The Picard Maneuver@startrek.websiteto Technology@lemmy.world•I just finished my hour-long interview with Oxford University concerning their study of Mastodon and decentralized social media.English271·2 years agoThat’s awesome. I think there are so many out there who would be receptive to decentralized social media if they heard about it.

Maybe it’s been driven by posts like this one or memes about growing Lemmy, but people seem to be posting and commenting more than usual.

The Picard Maneuver@startrek.websiteto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Anyone else moved from kbin to lemmy?English25·2 years agoI tried Kbin, but I don’t know why it just never clicked with me. I kind of like the barebones lemmy UI.
Also, the instance I’m on has an “old.reddit” style page that is really nice when I’m on PC.

The Picard Maneuver@startrek.websiteto Technology@lemmy.world•Elon Musk wants to merge humans with AI. How many brains will be damaged along the way?English1·2 years agoOk, maybe it’s optimistic to expect that we’ll definitely get there one day, but I hope that we do.
I’ve noticed that some people do use other filters than “Hot” or they scroll back in smaller communities, because I’ll occasionally get comment replies to posts I made months ago. It’s cool to see.
