Yes she said that and also many other things in the past that don’t necessarily line up with that sentiment. Even if she does think she is indigenous regardless of her genetics, it seems like one would want to combat the perception that she is a liar. Doing the genetic test shows for sure you have nothing to hide, in my opinion.
It would take some work, but if I were Buffy and 100% confident I was adopted, I would find a DNA sample from my parents (likely a hair on anything they owned, like a brush or clothing) or have one / both of my parents exhumed to take one tiny DNA samples from their body. With a DNA test, the result would be so definitive that anyone who had questioned my ancestry before would at that point shut the fuck up.

I think getting upset about noise from children playing in the middle of the day is absurd. But, I think the concern about precedent setting is valid. If this is a genuine concern of the residents that claim this is why they don’t want the daycare, I’d propose a change in local rules that specifically carve out an exception for daycares so that it is explicitly not precedent setting. If it’s just NIMBYs gonna NIMBY, I expect even a carve out wouldn’t be good enough.

Those sound like better ideas to prioritize to me. Besides political machinations, what reasons are there not to implement those types of policies?
It seems to me that increasing supply alone is not going to cut it. Are there not a bunch of financial groups with nearly bottomless wallets that enable them to afford to buy up any amount of property to rent or flip at any price they want, even if it means some properties sit on the market empty for a long time? This government policy seems analogous to having people with $100 dollars sitting at a no-limit poker table with a bunch of billionaires who can afford to endlessly put you all in on every bet, so they always bet more than you have and then the government comes in and says they will allow for more games to be played. Wouldn’t the policy be pointless if you don’t also limit the number of games the wealthy players can play?
