I don’t need highly specific targeted ads telling my exhausted monkey brain what I currently need in my life. I’m making plenty of poor financial choices with the slightly targeted ads I do see occasionally right now.

So sad that any good sentiment towards Palestine is instantly taken to be anti-israel. People are smart enough these days to understand the situation is not so black and white, there are good and bad on both sides and for a multitude of reasons.

This was great, it really is something we need to be focused on. Big tech has really ruined what we all thought the internet would be, they gave us some of it but served with a heavy dose of advertising and secretly selling your data behind your back.

The ideal internet is open and free, you don’t need to see constant ads, you don’t need to constantly worry about your data and everyone can for the most part access the same content without censorship.

I do very much agree with how sick I am of corporate internet where so many parts of the Web are now just ways to advertise something. However I don’t know if I’d love to go back to forums, some of this definitely reminds me of how parents or grandparents would reminisce on technology which was simpler/better in their time

I just realised that especially in teaching, people are treating these LLM’s the same way that I remember teachers in school used to treat computers and later the internet.

So true. There are multiple videos around where it shows that cats have reflexes faster than snakes, if a snake can’t take down a cat then what chance does anything else stand… Unless, hear me out… We introduce bigger cats to eat the smaller cats, they can sort of “invade” the smaller cats territories, then once they are done we can surely remove the bigger cats.

Your comment is such a great distillation of what LLM’s are. AI really is the most current topic for fear mongering and I’m sick of it.

There are definitely good reasons to be concerned around the ethics of AI for the future but as it currently stands AI has got a long way to go.

Something I heard a while ago about human vs artificial intelligence, think of all the things that children learn growing up, many things they begin to learn before they can even talk. If your knowledge is limited to what can be learnt through language then you will only be able to learn so much. Even still, when teaching something to a child, they only need a few goes to generally understand how to do something, current “learning” algorithms can take more than thousands of attempts to learn how to do extremely basic tasks and often do not perform the tasks as would be expected. AI is severely limited at this current time.
