Thanks for the heads up. It’s really similar to the keyboard I use.

So it mimics me?
I’d love to be able to get a small lifepo for the city and keep my ICE for longer distances.
The chemical stuff is tough. I mean, viscerally, you’ve got smells that at least tell our brain to avoid it sometimes, but mostly the threat isn’t immediate enough to make an impact. Solvents dry out your skin at which helps for some. It’s just hard to make someone think that walking to a tool crib or supply cabinet is worth it over ten seconds of exposure. I’m that way with solvents (IPA and MPK).
It’s getting better slowly. I get it for some things, though. If you’ve been running a manual mill for 30 years, a little piece of plexiglass isn’t going to make you any safer and we waste effort on dumb shit like that too often. It makes it harder to get people to do some of the other things. Coming into the industry when I did helped. Watching a bunch of guys retire broken or die working has an impact.
As much as I hate heavy-handed policies, having large areas that are hearing protection required seems to work alright. There’s no question about the sound level of a certain task or any room to argue. I managed to shake hands with my boss, his boss, then our director with a pair of ear plugs for each within a span of about 30m once. They didn’t think it was as funny as I did. The look on their face when they saw what I put in their hand was priceless, though.
Are you familiar with the hexavalent chromium changes a few years ago? Those of us in aircraft were exposed to it daily in paints with no PPE then they’re all “oops. We’re cutting exposure limits by 100”. And, of course, aircraft mechanics refuse to follow controls because we’ve done it this way for decades. It’s the only thing that has the corrosion resistance properties needed for aircraft, so here we are.

How long will it take to vote in an amendment that updates the connector?
Depends on what corporations and countries are backing it probably.
I thoroughly agree the connector insanity was a pain in the ass (though, being a hoarder of cables it made me a sort of superhero) but I just really dislike governments dictating this kind of thing.
There’s a lot in there and lil j daw gave us a way to link settings, so in the sync sub people link straight to settings.

A societal system is an emergent property of social beings interacting. Mandatory is a really awkward way of saying that.
It’s pretty normal for people. Anti-auth positions are terrifying to many. How will I feed my dogs if there’s no Purina? Forest for the trees and all that. What fucks me up is I come from an ethical position, so I don’t actually care how we solve problems so long as it’s voluntary.
That’s a massive question for someone to answer in a lemmy comment. There may be a variety of alternative systems that can work. Trade and society are forms of technology that we’ve halted progress on by locking ourselves into archaic systems of governance.
Just give people that reply a little latitude and understand no one person can fully describe a full system that took thousands of years of civilization could be replaced.
I don’t know enough about M3 to really comment on that, but when he updates things we cry about the changes. It looks like material design is 9 years old. He’s been developing Sync for, what, 12 years and a bit? So we’ve probably requested a lot of stupid shit, but he’s pretty good about listening. I know I was unhappy with some of the major UI updates and was happy he let me choose.
Probably the settings and ui smoothness are what I like. I set view to compact, switch the default touch action, move the image previews to the right and turn on colored indent lines.
After I open an image preview in connect it lags weirdly when I close it. Some of the text entry when commenting felt slightly jank to me, but I’ve been using sync for a long time.
Tweaking things to meet your usage is fantastic in Sync. The dev has some weird defaults, but assumes you want to tweak almost everything.
I paid $2 in 2013.
I honestly had assumed most of the ban pit peeps were conservatives. Interesting to see so many on the left supporting this.
I don’t really tiptoe around conservative coworkers or friends even when we disagree heavily. With some of my left friends I have to be careful, but most of them are willing to have honest conversations. There’s a very narrow band on both sides that are willing to have a conversation and the best approach is often different. It could be how you communicate or personal biases. Never really know.
I know a handful of Marxists that would point out that this shit exists to pit the oppressesed against each other.
As an American: enjoy your oversized vehicles, France. You could nuke us and spend a thousand years and not catch up on emmissions. Don’t fuck each other over.
Weight and speed. The arm itself is hefty and requires a fair bit of torque to move around and you want these operations to be completed quickly.
