Another person spoke about his Epstein connection which has come out recently, which is a huge disappointment. All I can say is that like 15 years ago, people like him, Norm Finkelstein and Chris Hedges helped to plant me on the left. Finding out about Epstein has been difficult to understand given his work and the effect it had on me.
Yeah, I honestly don’t know what to make of that, it’s personally a real letdown as Chomsky’s power came from truth telling and moral clarity, and then he hangs out with that fucking pedo. I’m not sure what he was accused of specifically. I thought it was that he had dinners with Epstein. I hadn’t heard he advised him. That’d be next level bad.
However, I don’t think that changes his analysis. Either it’s valid or not.

100% agree. However, I try to keep in mind that these are real people with real families doing real work in the ineficient system that we’ve allowed to exist.
Admin and billing would still exist, but it would be savagely curtailed. We now have to account for every insurance agreement between insurance companies and healthcare systems. These can vary on a hospital by hospital basis causing the incredibly complex system of pricing that are currently used. A single payer system would vastly decrease the need for this administrative overhead. Of course this would result in lost jobs, and an honest assessment of M4A would acknowledge this. Bernie Sanders 2016 M4A bill had funding for the workers having to transition jobs during this change if I remember correctly.

Cricket shill here. I’ve had cricket for years, it’s affordable and has good perks like free roaming in Mexico and Canada. It’s just an MVNO of ATT last I checked, so if ATT went down cricket would too.
I get this sentiment, but it’d go a long way for people who have the dreaded “range anxiety”. If they want the expense of both systems, then go for it. I have a used Chevy Volt which is a PHEV, we got it a few years ago and didn’t want to commit to full electric yet. It’s my families only car and in our case it’s been bullet proof. 95% of our driving is on electric with only family visits requiring gas. It’s not a bad system for people who aren’t convinced. Different now that it’s becomming a culture war issue though.

This is my day! Worm toilets exist, and require almost no compromise. They can use water like a flush toilet or be a bit more rustic. So cool. Real harmony with nature shit and no one cares!
Yeah, a couple of decades ago China was a miracle as western institutions repeatedly redefined the poverty threshold to make global poverty look like it was improving. Back then it was touting the power of the free market, with most of the gains being in China. Now that they want conflict with China, those numbers are no longer good enough. I’m not saying China doesn’t have a poverty problem, I’m just saying this is illustrative of propaganda changing the narrative.
Also, if its in human poo it’s already in the carbon cycle and so really less of an issue. The problem is bringing up carbon that’s been removed from the cycle (subterranean oil or gas pockets) and putting that back into circulation. Granted it would be better to pull carbon out of the atmosphere (somehow), but at least using poo wouldn’t be adding NEW carbon. That’s my understanding anyway.
I don’t get it either. I always had standard electric in places where I lived until now. My first gas stove: 1. Often smells of gas which implies a slow leak which is scary 2. Isn’t vented at all, so it’s spewing who the fuck knows what, even when it’s working properly. Give me an induction surface and a big air fryer and I’m happy.

I genuinely don’t understand why so many people go with the network brand. AFAIK all of the US networks have MVNO’s that operate on their networks at much lower cost. Some of those virtual operators are even owned by the big guys, e.g. Cricket on ATT. My coworkers pay literally hundreds of dollars more per month than is necessary, and what, they get a few Mbps faster data rates? Is that really worth it?
Edit: TIL a lot of people have had a hard time with MVNO’s. My experience has been excellent and consistent, but that apparently doesn’t generalize.
This whole twitter thing is like some lib version of a moral panic. Who cares, just get off it if you don’t like the experience. But no, they all need to tell everyone how this makes them so morally pure.
