I’ll be honest I assume it’s some parliamentary specifics. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s a filibuster to me. Allegedly it isn’t, but AFAIK, it is. It’s what I expect one to look like. It behaves like one. So it is.

Technically it isn’t a filibuster,
Depending on how long he is able to go, he could disrupt Senate business on Tuesday, though his speech technically isn’t a filibuster — the chamber is currently in a limited period of debate time for Matthew Whitaker’s nomination as ambassador to NATO.

It just behaves as you would expect a filibuster to behave. The standard no-show threatening is still a thing you can do.
Just trusting them to pay you out of their own pocket?
Assuming US, it actually depends on the state (may be all states, but I can only speak of those I’ve lived in). The law is that the money must go into a separate interest bearing account and that is the money that is to be returned. So the money isn’t supposed be their own pocket.
Lol, that’s exactly what I thought of too. Assuming https://legiscan.com/LA/text/HB71/2024 is correct I think my image fits the legal requirements.
It does specify specific text, but it doesn’t say I can’t add additional text.
Also it has to be easily readable.
Today? Maybe a few. A week, a month, a year from now? Reddit is going to get worse. People will leave.
Looking at Twitter it’s clear some folks will never leave no matter how bad it gets, but plenty of folks will leave.

If they had discounts it would work. But we all know they aren’t having discounts.
To be fair to Chrome.
Microsoft had the vast majority with Trident. Mozilla/Firefox slowly gained market share with Gecko. Chrome/Webkit* then took market share from both.
It’s not like Chrome just appeared one day and demanded everyone use them, they gained market share by being a good browser.
*(Chrome now uses a fork of Webkit called Blink.)
That being said I do think Firefox provides the best browser experience, and Chrome users should look into switching.
Which is a long way of saying Microsoft fucked up bad. Real bad.
I have 8 bucks in Google Kajigger, is it moving to the new thing? Do I have to sort out how to move it around? I’m think I had it all hooked up to a bank at one point. Maybe it was a friend that sent me money?
I think I used it to pay for Dunkin Donuts, but both apps list Dunkin Donuts, can I just use the money there?
That’s why this is all so annoying, I have to figure out this whole process, old and new, just for 8 bucks.
In the trailing off part of the article,
“Many stock trades are done by computers, reacting in fractions of seconds to new information. The inflated margin likely triggered a buying frenzy before most people could digest the numbers.”
Which, if true in this case, is even more funny to think about. Not only does the share values not reflect actually company value, but that value isn’t even what a person thinks it is.
I’m reminded of the helpless employee who says “The computer won’t let me do it.” The enigma of the computer that is off doing it’s own thing.
Season 2 has been excellent so far.
I do agree waiting 2 years for 4 episodes, then 5 months for 4 more episodes is a huge let down.
Because it’s not true. It feels believable, but it’s a lie. Everyone, especially at the top, know this so no one is punished.
I think it’s fine if multiple of the “same” community exist.
If I were on Snooface and wanted to share/discuss a new game would I do it on, r/Gaming, r/Games, or r/TrueGaming? (Or yet another.)
If two communities are EXACTLY the same, then sure, merge them, but they are never EXACTLY the same.
Re “It could even a boat”, that’s Family Guy https://youtu.be/GKZJdaiJF84
But your point still stands.
Assuming Twitter survives long enough, it’ll get added back but tied to a Musk-backed currency.
You’ve mentioned that the majority of Lemmy.world users support defederating from threads. Do you have a source?
As someone in the “wait and see” group I’m curious how many people really are in each group.
Someone who disagrees with you is not a bootlicker.
Meta is a garbage company. Meta has done terrible things historically. At the moment we don’t know how Threads will affect the rest of the Fediverse. I’m ok with giving Meta a short leash. If you disagree, join an instance that has already blocked them. That’s how this works.
I fully expect, once rolled out, I’ll block Threads, but that is MY choice to make.
A EB-5 visa costs ~1 million dollars and has been available since the 1990s. So anyone who wanted one has had plenty of time to get one.
The new “gold card” intends to replace the existing program.
Increasing the cost from 1 to 5 million sounds like it would decrease the number of applicants, not increase them. I suspect part of this change will be loosening the requirements to justify the increased cost.
