    You wanna share your opinion as it differs to mine, I’m happy to engage with that. But I am absolutely not interested in whatever tit for tat, nit-picky debate that wants to be.

    I’m saying as long as the consumption of animals and animal products is part of the most viable means for satisfying the nutritional debt of the human species, the human psychological need to distinguish between pets and livestock is necessary.

    Do we need, or is it right to keep pets? is its own set of moral questions.

    I agree with you in principle, but until at which point we have the technological and production capabilities in place to fully feed the planet without the need for livestock and other animal sources of nutrients, the distinction has to exist. We may have gotten to the point of being technologically capable but the human population is very much reliant on animal sources to sustain itself. And so the distinction is necessary. I’m not arguing that it’s right or just or morally correct. But it’s where we are and what is required to continue existing as a species.

    And by no means am I saying that those animals we see as livestock don’t deserve to be treated with care and respect while they are alive. I just believe the distinctive categories of pets and livestock are an unfortunate requirement of our current situation.

    The infuriating thing are the ‘do you want to switch back to old terms?’ messages. Like are you fucking serious what the fuck even is the point of that what the fuck are you even doing with these ‘new’ apps if you’re going to use the same pop ups in both directions basically.

    Yeah ima second the other commenter, this ain’t the kind of thing you’re going to figure out talking to strangers on the internet, this is something to explore and tackle with a mental health professional. Again, not because there seems to be anything wrong with you. But you’re obviously grappling with some major identity and self image issues that will be helped on an order of magnitude better by talking to a therapist rather than surgical intervention.

    I think ‘age of the last moon landing’ is a pretty piss poor metric for how well a space program is doing. Remember two years ago when NASA landed the most advanced rover ever built and a friggin helicopter on mars? Remember how the helicopter was only designed to last a handful of sols and flights but is still to this day flying actual survey missions scouting for the rover?

    I’m sorry but I think your metric for what ranks various space agencies capabilities is absolutely hog wash.

    EDIT: You also seem to have missed in your assessment, the primary mission goal of the SLIM Lander. Japan was testing a landing technology that would allow vehicles to land ‘within 100 meters of a chosen landing site’. A goal JAXA achieved with this mission despite the solar panel issue. To give some context, up until now most landing sites are chosen for a margin of error up to several Kilometers.
