How long until the forks get deprecated? Is that even a possibility? I don’t really know what goes into making this but I would imagine if it depends on some chunk of the mozilla source code, eventually it will be out of sync with the major releases or current browser standards. What does that mean for the TOR browser since its based on firefox right?
I ask that as someone moving from firefox to libre/waterfox.
Yeah, that’s spoken like someone who hasn’t had to wait, pay, fight, stress, kiss ass, and pray that their paperwork goes through for fucking YEARS. Complete ignorance of the process and how painful and slow it is. And for someone who by that point has probably established a life here and may or may not have ties to their birth country anymore or may have fled their birth country.

I bought the Emby lifetime license about 2 years ago when the plex remote streaming stuff first started getting talked about. It coincided with my server refresh so it ended up working out. I have been really happy with Emby so far.
One thing to note is that music streaming on remote devices is WAY better on plex, Emby behaves more like a mapped network drive running over the internet to a local music player that then forgets your position on pause or when you move away from the remote app/device whereas Plex is actually functional as a modern music player. I keep a local copy of my music library on my phone anyways and okay through Gonemad so it is a non-issue for me but Emby should work better than it does in that case.
Plex also allows/provides “live” tv (with ads) which can be nice if you are into that, and there is the “free” streaming library too which Emby doesn’t offer. I’ll keep plex around for those features but non-of my stuff is/will be hosted on Plex.
Professionals have standards. I’m not sure there is an ISO standard for BS but N.I.S.T was probably working on one before the current administration gutted the funding for being woke.
It kind of depends on what you want to do. I worked almost 10 years at a consulting firm that specialized in failure analysis and they loved hiring PhD metalutgists and Masters grads in specific engineering disciplines.
This was partially because that specialization helps in niche cases and partially because it helps market smaller companies as competent if you can say “I have 4 phds on staff for X, Y, and Z, one is a professor at (technical university name here)”
The team leads or project leads were always older engineers who only had their bachelor’s degrees (and experience) but would shit talk professors and advanced degrees when the “academics” weren’t around though. It was a REALLY toxic situation and ultimately led to me leaving. (I’m a BS Mech btw)

We got a basic roomba 650 (the one that crashes into stuff and randomly cleans) like 10 years ago and it still works fine (well, as well as it ever worked which wasn’t great), you program the time and day of the week with physical buttons, and leave it alone.

Setup was easy, it just works, its stable, and if you want the regular updates, just get the lifetime model on sale. I bought it becaue I didn’t want to spend time screwing with setup and just wanted to get my data moved snd running.
I have not kept up with their raw disk lineup to be honest, they may be garbo but I am not sure. I have been using toshiba and seagate drives for the last 8 years which have been great.

The WD devices also offer very limited long term support. The MyBook Live had a software exploit found a couple years after launch that allowed remote access to your files and enabled third parties to wipe your drives. Wd said “wow, that sucks, here is a $15 coupon for a new one. No, we aren’t gonna patch it. Buy a new one” I will never buy another wd device except for the raw discs.

The TLDR from a couple months ago when I ready about it was basically accumulated heavy metals in the sediment which was covered by water is now exposed which if it is caught on fire or otherwise distutbed is an issue.
Solvent does not remove rust.
You degrease the part, then manually remove the rust, then clean with the solvent just before welding. Acetone or alcohol are better cleaners for weld prep than brake cleaner. These solvents are volatile enough that most of the time, the part is dry and not-flammable by the time you get your gear on and are ready to weld.
The really damaging thing here is not the fire but if you use chlorinated brake cleaner when welding it created concentrated chlorine gas and will kill you.
Welding produces a ton of nasty fumes and you should ALWAYS be wearing a welding rated respirator and using a fume extractor when welding, especially with flux core, galvanized, or stainless unless you want extra nasty cancer.
