This has been clear to every US admin in the last 40 years… took some ignorant prick like Trump to let shit hit the fan.

Point is: As prices remain high more people will switch, reducing consumption in the long run.

Having the same thought.
If capitalism eats its own children it might force the world to use FOSS and non-proprietary company structures.

True
To be honest I think this is a cyclic process only being interrupted when inequality and welfare become shitty enough to push a majority of individuals out of their comfort zone… that’s when revolutions happen. Ealier I don’t expect anything to change as the biggest players are allowed to continously shape the system in their favor.

Isn’t this the exact same thing happening durin all other finance crashes in the last decades? I don’t think the modus operandi is much different.

Yep, with the small flaw that the US nursed an anti-democratic dictatorship in the process… which kind of led to the problem nobody was willing to defend it after the US retreated.

Doesn’t this boil down to self-censorship in public? Better not critizise the government in public becaus you never know whos waring smart glasses…

I’m in favor of your position but this
You can either believe the shit you just said
is just rude and that way, you won’t generate support for your position among people who don’t already agree with you. I think that’s counterproductive, because cooperation is the most effective weapon you have against a repressive state.
I asked a simple question to understand the situation and you start insulting me.

Isn’t it the other way round: ICE pruposely bullys blue states (Among other reasons, because the red states need illegal immigrants as laborers) ?

To me it looks like it can be completely sealed… and hopefully it’s designed for auto-rolling back upright.
That being said I wouldn’t want to experience the feeling of a tennis ball in a hurricane for several days should I face a storm in open water… let alone the accompanying lavatory and supply situation as well as parts such as the mast and the panels being ripped off.
/edit: readability

‘Concentration camp’ was introduced as term similar to ‘reeducation camp’ to ‘reintegrate’ ‘rotten elements’ into society. The Nazis even made propaganda films about ‘how nice and practical’ these camps were to society and inhabitants… of course without showing the torture and killing part.
So in other words gas chambers were never a requirement for the term and you’re free to call this unconstitutional abnormality however you like.

,Tobacco isn’t addictive and doesn’t cause cancer! hides own studies behind his back
…wondering where I heard that one before.

I get your point, however as someone not really deep into that matter, I have a remark:
Instead of letting the right dictate what words we’re allowed to use I find the approach of the gay community more appealing: Change the connotation of words that were originally used to discriminate. ‘Gay’ was used as originally used as a slur to devalue male homosexuals but the community was able to reverse the negative connotation to a neutral or even positive one.
If I remember correctly ‘woke’ was initially coined as ‘woke up to everyday discrimination and injustice’. Somehow I am not willing to let the right wing have the final say on how our language is interpreted.
(As I said, I am a layman, and if I have made any mistakes here, please point them out to me without crucifying me.)

,Sanction human rights watch! … and do Amnesty also if you’re at it" ~ some orange probably /s

Given the current ‘success’ of protests against Trump Inc. I highly doubt there will be a point in the near future were enough Americans can be mobilized to actually achieve something even if the elections are skipped… they’ll come for the active opposition leads (identifiable by the stock pile of data they process) first framing them as terrorists. The remains will have to wait till this admin as inevitably turned the whole country so shitty a majority is actually ready to leave their comfort zone.
Currently protest are as effective as ‘strongly worded letters’ as both rely on the addressee to actually give a fuck about the sender.
I know I’m being pessimistic here, and God knows I hope I’m wrong… but the last few months, watching the “land of the free, home of the brave” turn into a hyper-corrupt dictatorship without any significant resistance, have made me very sober.
To this end, many dissidents have been and continue to be persecuted and imprisoned, even in socialist states.
The whole issue is not black and white.

Ministry of truth at work…

I think the US way beyond the point of peaceful protest. You have 40% (which also happen to be the better armed portion of the population) approving of a dictator turning your democracy into a dictatorship.
Trump (and his much more dangerous puppet masters) have made it evidently clear that they ignore both congress and judges at their will. Congress and senate at the same time are filled with representatives presenting the elites profiting from Trumps coup, not you.
Short of system change I don’t think you’ll get out of this.
Jep, I think the lack of specialized communities is definetly a problem. However I think this is, in the last resort, mostly up to us as users. If we don’t create content for topics we find interesting… who else could?
But I also get that possible reddit refugees who are used to lurk on content instead of creating it (I don’t exclude myself here) will find the plattform(s) to empty to be satisfied.
Left out the part where the US/Israel bombed Iran TWICE during ongoing negotiations. Read earlier that the draft for an UN security council resolution demands Iran to go ,with good faith" into negotiations with US/Israel… who came up with this, did they miss the last two rounds of negotiation-bombing?
