Yeah, seriously. I don’t think I heard that from anybody.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Do you prefer fluffy UI over Liquid Glass?
23·1 month agoRight? I imagine with a bit of work, some people would use that.
What do you mean by “support”? Flatpak is in the official repository and has been for a while.
You may also consider the backports repository for common software such as office and maybe your DE/tools.
Otherwise, I’ve used a T60 with Libreboot myself for years and it still worked fine for general purpose stuff, but then the CCFL display lighting went dead. It’s not TFT, unfortunately, so they don’t last as long.

Technology@lemmy.zip•Wikipedia is now 25 years old — world’s 7th most popular website now has over 7 million English articles and 7 billion monthly visitorsEnglish
4·2 months agoMaybe “visits” would have been the better term, I don’t think a lot of babies visit Wikipedia every month.
Funnily, because of the compression, I thought the same. I hadn’t seen the original.
Then, I was like: Ok, if you’re just trying to make one silly joke, you put that thing into an AI image generator and write “replace the book’s cover with Scrum” and be done with it, that’s fine for once.

When I had long hair, I would lay it beyond the pillow, not below my head, like that girl in the photo. That helped to some extent.

2·6 months agoOk. I guess I’m more of a purist, meaning I prefer to view content as neutral and close to what it essentially is, as possible.
It’s fair to prefer a more saturated or subjectively better-looking image, but I guess this is just not on many people’s list of top priorities.
I have no solution here, except maybe use that display solely for media consumption and do serious work on a more traditional display. That’s at least what I do, except with a projector in that case.

71·6 months agoHow do you “convert” content to HDR? You have to generate something that doesn’t exist.
Did you pay 2 grand for a high-contrast mode?

31·6 months agoSeems like a cheap excuse, the law doesn’t say specifically that.
But, of course, manufacturers like to lock down their devices as much as possible. And such laws play into their hands.

2·6 months agoSorry, good write-up, but what’s wrong with your S-key?

I thought it was also considered a bubble because so much money has been invested in all those projects now that couldn’t possibly return any revenue in 100 years or so.
