Courtney (she/her/they)

Hello lovelies, I am a (trans)Woman who is still in the process of discovering herself!

I have been working up the courage to be who I am for so long, I am excited to be figuring things out.

Pre-HRT, pre-fashion-sense, and pre-confidence.

Any and all tips and advice from more experienced women are welcome!

  • My plan is “I’ll probably be dead” but if not, I have enough parts to cobble together a solar charging station, and keep my laptop running for a few days between needing to let everything charge back up.

I have one off-site backup on an hdd inside a faraday bag and waterproof case that I back up once a week(ish) and after every project. I have local backups daily, one in a faraday box.

I have never once needed any of them and honestly if shit hit the fan hard enough, I will likely never be in a position where having backups for digital information will matter again. I’ll probably at most have my old phone/battery/solar charger combo that’s in a case in the garage, I keep a ton of survival references, maps, and things like that on it.

  • Even the worst, most pollution inducing motorcycle on the planet doesn’t hold a candle to my 90s truck.

Hell, even most modern trucks are better despite being massive, considering the improvements to fuel efficiency and such…

Arguing a motorcycle is worse because one specific area of its carbon footprint is slightly higher than cars depending on model of both is weird to me.

And I don’t remember the last time I saw a motorcycle without the obvious cat hugging the engine before it winds to the muffler. Note: usually the motorcycles I get to see close are people who are more environment conscious than your average redneck. I’m sure the shop down the road specializes in removing them. I KNOW they offer “diesel tuning services” to let people “roll coal” so it wouldn’t surprise me…

  • I have a couple friends who have issues with making their food. Idk how many times I’ve been talking to one, they mention feeling like shit, and I asks aht the last thing they ate was and it’s some shit like “I had a coffee yesterday around 2pm”

So now, since I love cooking but hate all the prep and cleanup, I have them buy the ingredients the day before I plan on coming over, then I spend the day making meals for the next week and a half. It all has to be able to heat in one container, preferably the container it’s stored in to assist with ease of heating.

It’s still a toss up, but now at least when they hit a wall they can grab a box out of the fridge instead of sitting paralyzed trying to figure out what to eat or deciding to just stay hungry

I also have to label the meals with binary choices. Things like “LUNCH MONDAY OR DINNER WEDNESDAY” so they have variety and an option for if they don’t want a specific one right now. Otherwise it’s “too many options” and instead of just grabbing whatever, they close the freezer/fridge.

  • Lmao no, just autistic fascination with space and many thousands of hours of listening to astrophysics lectures and hundreds of hours listening to edu-tainment type videos from people like Dr. Becky Smethurst.

Thanks for the compliment though, I’ve heard the balloon explanation since I was a child, but the ant-splanation of light speed just popped into my head.

  • Without trying to explain things even in not sure I grasp, no. The atomic forces keep atoms together, and expansion of space is only noticeable on long distances. Like light-years and parsecs kind of distances.

Also fun fact: the rate of expansion is not only INCREASING as space expands, last information I saw suggested space is expanding faster in some directions than others, which is fascinating for a number of reasons.
