M2 is one way to measure the total amount of money in the economy. M0 is all cash money in circulation. M1 is M0 plus all money that can be spent at will, for instance in checking and savings accounts. M2 includes M0 and M1, plus stuff like short term deposits and money market funds.

When M2 shrinks it means there’s less spendable money in the economy, so people spend less. Businesses tend to have to lower their prices to get people to buy. The value of a dollar (or a yen or whatever) goes up, which sounds awesome except for a few huge catches. Now it’s always better to hang on to money rather than exchange it for goods and services. It also weirdly increases the value of debt, so anyone who borrowed anything going into this is screwed. I can think of a couple

• expectation management: sometimes call volume is genuinely high, and if you set a floor at say 10 minutes it only feels like a 5 minute difference if the caller’s actual wait time is 15
• engineering downtime to allow agents time to complete paperwork or catch up on emails
• make us all so annoyed with the process of waiting in line we welcome AI agents as liberators

Some vehicles that people call “ebikes” should absolutely be registered and plated. You should not be able to take a motorized vehicle on a bike path and zoom through at 50+ MPH. The surron kiddies are going to ruin alternative transportation for everyone. Sure, surrons aren’t ebikes (and something like a super 76 which has pedals really should be regulated as part of its own category like emoped or something), but regulators are going to want to put everything in nice neat categories and ban everything else.
