  • I’m going to say all LG laundry stuff must not be created equal. We have two washing machines at work and they both break every month . The only tech I can think of that’s worse are HP printers.

I fix ours (not my job, but it’s a good mental break from regular work), I start a new job next month and my boss asked what he should do about them.

Wait until they break and get something else, they’re not worth fixing. It’ll be cheaper and less downtime to buy something good.

  • Good, this bullshit has never made a compelling argument

In its defence, Google argued that since it was not based in Uganda and had no physical presence in the country, it was not obliged to register with the PDPO, and the rules on cross-border transfers of personal data did not apply to it. However, the regulator rejected this argument, determining that Google is a local data controller since it collects data from users in Uganda and decides how that data is processed.

  • Have a look at

    https://therestartproject.org/parties/

Participate in a free community repair event, where volunteer fixers will help you learn how to repair your broken or slow devices - and tackle the growing mountain of e-waste.

Keep in mind that some people are not actually interested in fixing their own things, they may not be able to because of disabilities too.

Informally I’m the guy in my hood who fixes shit, neighbors bring things to me all the time. Been doing it for years, only one person has shown any real interest in learning about it though. I always try to say “If it happens again, you can do this” if I think it’s safe for them to do so.

Some will take the initiative, some won’t. I also don’t want someone unqualified to just start poking around on Mains voltage or with powerful motors.
