He’s literally describing what people with functional illiteracy do to work around being unable to read at a working level. He’s describing it as an acceptable goal. Batshit crazy.

The only time I’ve ever had unsupervised exams was for take-home, open book (ie, harder) exams. Before now they just… left them all alone in a room with the test and expected no cheating?

Not a single mention of food insecurity or nutrition in student outcomes, despite the fact that BEFORE the economy went sideways due to this stupid ass war 20% of homes with children were food-insecure. Only the deepest level of reporting from the NYT 🙄

Damn, I just backed a project that doesn’t have adult content right now, but conceivably could in the future just because it’s a slice of life comic about adults (also sci fi but that’s irrelevant to the overall point). I wonder how this is going to affect funded but not yet disbursed projects.
Especially since the restrictions are so severe… you can’t do a ton of legitimate art if you can’t show nip or butt.

Where are all the fucking brain trusts that spent the last year telling me AI data centers aren’t actually that bad and it’s just like watching YouTube?

Hope he gets rich off it.

Weaning off or greatly reducing oil usage will help in the long run. It’s just a matter of whether the lesson sticks or everyone goes right back to it if/when the strait opens.

I see so many of those disposed of on the street near a vape store and it drives me nuts.

I was under the impression that the truly harmful part of CFCs was the F, given its higher reactivity and less natural presence as an ion in the environment.

Is it worse than having methane?

That’s fascinating, it sounds like it happened due to the eruption occurring under ocean water, since it requires a chlorine ion from salt to break down methane. If they could translate this into something you could dump into the atmosphere over methane hot spots it could make a positive impact.

Take your time, I’m enjoying my extra study time lol

The article mentions 96 dB for 24 hours a day

Same, I went in maybe 2015? and had my finger scanned. I’d already bought the tickets in advance online and had an excited preteen with me, what was I going to do, turn around and make her go home? They know you’re not going to say no because they’ve spent billions of dollars convincing every child in your life that it’s the closest thing to going to heaven without dying.

Is this the opposite of a zip bomb? 🤔

“In just ONE state, 14,000 individuals receiving SNAP benefits were driving LUXURY VEHICLES!” Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins posted on X last week
It should be noted that in some states (most? No idea), the value of your car and house don’t count against your application for food stamps. Which makes perfect sense when you consider that you would have to be a fucking moron to sell your home or car to eat, since after you eat you either have nowhere to sleep or no way to get to work independently. A “high value” (read: not a shitcan) car can also be more dependable than a junker, may vary by brand of course.
Anyway, anyone who has ever wanted to police food stamps is going to hell.

I’m assuming that’s a very unfortunate autocorrect.

It’s simply impossible to tell.

It’s been called that since the 60s. Epstein is also just a last name.
I never said it was the only cause. Ignoring it completely as a cause at all is both unscientific and bad reporting when it affects 1 in 5 households with kids.
