In my experience, if you didn’t write the function that creates the list, there’s a solid chance it could be None too, and if you try to check the length of None, you get an error. This is also why returning None when a function fails is bad practice IMO, but that doesn’t seem to stop my coworkers.
Kind of crazy to me that governments aren’t massively interested in hosting their own fediverse instances. It has huge appeal of providing announcements on a broader platform while also controlling your instance and still being from a .gov source.

Margot Robbie, I was about to agree with you and thought that was a very reasonable take, until you tried to argue that git merge is better than git rebase, then I simply had to disregard the whole thing.
My rule has always been people can notify me, but bots/apps cannot. If I see a notification not from a person, it gets disabled. If it’s something I can practically do on a website, I don’t download the app.

I think the most “BIFL” solution is a non-LED reflector. I’ve never heard of a battery device that lasts the lifetime of a bike.

Someone at Netflix a year or two ago did an analysis on their customers and determined that most people will pay any price for netflix because they spend all their time at home and watch movies on it regularly, which was probably true. So Netflix decided to act on it, but once one company acts on it, it’s the best time for other streaming services to jump on the train because it’s less likely customers can fight back against one company making one anti-consumer policy. So pretty quickly you get a tidal wave of enshitification.
