What is everyone’s opinions on the sound quality of vinyl?

I understand the collectibility of physical media, and the novelty of owning a vinyl and the machine that plays them. The large art piece that is the case (and often the disc itself). Showing support for your favorite artists by owning physical media from them.

Those are great reasons to collect vinyl.

But a lot of my friends claim vinly is of higher audio quality than anything else, period. This is provably false, but it seems to be a common opinion.

How often have you seen this and what are your thoughts on it?

Fun story. I had a flip phone years ago and you could have multiple recipients to a single text. And if the text was multiple pages, it would split into several texts. And you could resend already sent texts.

So one time I put in my girlfriend’s phone number in all 20 recipient slots. I then filled the text to the max size, though I don’t remember how many it split into. I then resent it over and over. This all took like 2 or 3 minutes.

Her phone was sending notifications over and over for the entire rest of the day. I’d guess at least 8 hours, probably more.

Spammers will spoof numbers similar to yours to get you to trust it. I even had a guy text me FURIOUSLY demanding I stop calling him, when I never had. Someone had spoofed MY number, calling him, who had the same area code and next 3 digits.

Tbh if the data only went to my dentist I’d be okay with that. Real tooth pain strikes fear into the hearts of mortal men. After experiencing that once I’d give a lot to never experience it again.

Yeah and some of the best toothbrushes as reported by every single dentist I’ve had over the last 10 years all have Bluetooth in them, or have a model with Bluetooth. They’re not good because they have Bluetooth, they’re good because they’re good, and adding Bluetooth to an already expensive toothbrush is negligible to the price so they all do it.

I’ll be honest I didn’t even know you could log in to YouTube with it. I assumed most people would be using it to actively not participate. By using it you’re already taking ad revenue away and skipping sponsored segments.

+1 for FreeTube. It’s so customizable. Besides the ad blocking and sponsor blocking by default, there are SO MANY features and interface improvements. Never going back.

I’ll look into barrier, thanks. I work in the gaming industry (from home, on my own pc) and so I am constantly running games and doing non-gaming tasks on and off so dual booting is not really an option for me. I often need to do normal tasks while games are running too. Which is why I wanted that 2 pc setup I mentioned above.

However I think I might dual boot just to try Linux out with gaming for now (I have a spare ssd I can use to keep it simple) since I see a lot of people saying it’s pretty good now. Then if it works out I can just transition to only Linux.

Real question. Is gaming (not game dev) significantly better than it was 5 years ago on Linux? I really want to switch, but I also really don’t want to give up everything “just working” and doing it smoothly when gaming on windows.

I’ve even considered having 2 PC’s for my 4 monitors, and having the middle monitor run windows and the other 3 on a Linux box. I used to use a program that could simulate my mouse moving from one pc to an entirely different one even across windows and Linux, and also share the clipboard. I could try that again.

But if the gaming experience is sufficient and convenient on Linux I might switch entirely.

Again, we’re not just talking about email. Things like email aliases and other features are what people mainly stick with Proton for. Nobody knows my real email. They all get an instantly generated alias that I can revoke at any time. Plus if I get spam, I will know who leaked my email. Most people do not actually send many personal emails. It’s a secure platform with many benefits.

It’s the other things that come with it that make the price worth it. Like the VPN, password manager, easy built in email aliases (key word easy built in), and drive storage. I paid for several of those solutions separately until combining them into a cheaper and more secure platform.
