The biggest problem that we can realistically overcome is the lifestyle we have all been accustomed to, which is only going to get worse as global conflicts continue to ramp up. The pandemic was a hint, a minor preparation for it, and the results weren’t thrilling. Trying to deal with the rich would be more plausible if the outcome, the destabilization of the society they’ve intertwined with, wasn’t so certain.

I think the only thing they really care about is the American hostages. Anything and everything else is just politics and diplomacy that they’ll get around to if it becomes a PR issue. PR wise, the US is already claiming it has stepped in to get Israel to step it down some of its measures, but they aren’t going to step back when it involves outside parties like Iran playing proxy war in Israel through Hamas, even if it does screw Palestinians who have little say either way.

Seriously, people are acting like this is new. There is no sense in shaming them we’ve had it brought to the mainstream by people like Martin Skhreli and nothing has been done. Martin Skhreli himself is only in jail because of his ponzi schemes, a.k.a. screwing other rich people out of their money. The only reason Pfizer was praised was because it was needed in a time of need and because they hired plenty of lobbyists.

When a company does this, they aren’t just making a business decision, they are making a decision for the people who use their platforms, who got to their platform from Google searches and who made content that other people see in Google searches. Abuse is abuse, and even in the US this should be grounds for the loss of fair use. The EFF should realize Reddit is not their friend.
