Yeah, those kinda puzzled me as well. They didn’t look like they’re varnished, but I suspect I could be wrong about that. After all, they do work, lol 😂.
I didn’t to be honest… I had no interest in dolls at that age. Sure, when I was toddler, but I think we did that in 3rd or 4th grade, something like that.
I think I just wrote back something like “Oh that’s really interesting.” in my reply… never heard from her again 😂. The teacher wondered why, I never told her what I wrote in my second letter 😂.
Hello my unknown penpal ☺️.
We has this penpal thing back in school, you send a letter to an unknown kid somewhere, the schools exchanged the letters and made the letter network (which kid wrote to the other one, so when you write back, your letter gets sent to the same kid).
Anyway, I wrote the first letter and gave some basic info, my name, my parent’s names, what I’m interested in, some interesting books I’ve read, etc. I got a reply from the other end, some girl from another town (can’t remember the name now though) and this letter was a 6 page dissertation on her dolls… I just said fuck it 🤷.

They will try and do this… they might opt to use hooks though… that way, they don’t have to disclose source… or will just disclose the changes that add more hooks. What will they be used for? I think we know.
0x4E4F@infosec.pubto Autism@lemmy.world•Why does no one understand me, I make no sense in this world :(English1·1 year agoOh, come on, can’t be that bad 😉. I live with a person I can’t stand, and I have to do it for at least another 14 or 15 years, beat that 😂.
Oh… well, I might giggle a bit, if it was my kid (since “society’s norm” is not that), but it would actually get me thinking, my kid is probably right.
Ummm… I don’t think the text reads that the kids mom was laughing… or did I miss something 🤔.
0x4E4F@infosec.pubto Technology@beehaw.org•Why does this microphone have a stereo wire? (On a headset)English2·1 year agoThe link doesn’t open, says connection refused 🤷.
Regardless, if it doesn’t require the bias pin, the mic is self-biased or biased through another source (use the same wire for the signal to get bias, this is easy, you just use a cap to decouple the signal from the bias).
0x4E4F@infosec.pubto Technology@beehaw.org•Why does this microphone have a stereo wire? (On a headset)English7·1 year agoIt’s for bias to the mic. Condenser mics need it to apply bias to one of the leads of the mic so it can amplify the sound before sending it to the input of the card. Some mics don’t require that (self-biased) so in that case, the R pin (middle ring) goes to GND.
0x4E4F@infosec.pubto Solarpunk technology@slrpnk.net•Prediction: human hibernation will reduce aircraft emissionsEnglish2·1 year agoYes, my thoughs exactly… they’re the ones that travel in private jets daily, yet we’re the ones that have to take the high road… excuse me for not caring.
0x4E4F@infosec.pubto Technology@beehaw.org•Why does this microphone have a stereo wire? (On a headset)English2·1 year agoWhat do you mean by stereo wire? It’s got 3 contacts on the 3.5mm jack, that’s enough to transfer analog stereo (GND, L, R).
0x4E4F@infosec.pubto Solarpunk technology@slrpnk.net•Prediction: human hibernation will reduce aircraft emissionsEnglish2·1 year agoAlso worth noting one of the main drives for human hibernation: nutrient/food intake is cut to like ⅙ when hibernating, so you can be shipped to Mars and that hugely weight-sensitive payload allowance can be cut down to a manageable amount. IIRC, 1 person eats 1 ton of food throughout the whole trip to Mars (3 years). That food weight is a substantial hinderance in sending people to Mars, at least in numbers.
Space travel? Yes, that makes sense. But working on this just so we can attend a party on Ibiza… no, it doesn’t IMO.
The reason for developing this is what bothers me and makes no sense IMO.
0x4E4F@infosec.pubto Solarpunk technology@slrpnk.net•Prediction: human hibernation will reduce aircraft emissionsEnglish1·1 year agoThat is probably decades from happening, at which point, I will either be dead or very old and won’t give AF about traveling all together.
0x4E4F@infosec.pubto Solarpunk technology@slrpnk.net•Prediction: human hibernation will reduce aircraft emissionsEnglish1·1 year agoI’m saying it’s stupid, even if they do discover it. No way in hell I’m going through that just to travel to another place. It’s not like we’re colonizing the galaxy with this technology, we’re going to Ibiza 🤦.
0x4E4F@infosec.pubto Solarpunk technology@slrpnk.net•Prediction: human hibernation will reduce aircraft emissionsEnglish2·1 year agoThe whole thing sounds like it would be better as a writing prompt than anything like a practical solution to anything. People need to go back to writing science fiction instead of putting out stuff like this.
Exactly.
This is just stupid IMO, if I read this in an SF novel, I’m dropping the novel, not even reading it to the end. We have online conferences, where people don’t even need to be present in the same room, but go through all this just to travel to another place 🤨… it just feels stupid.
0x4E4F@infosec.pubto Solarpunk technology@slrpnk.net•Prediction: human hibernation will reduce aircraft emissionsEnglish5·1 year agoThat works if I have 2+ weeks in my life at my disposal for… whatever… what if I have to be there ASAP.
0x4E4F@infosec.pubto Solarpunk technology@slrpnk.net•Prediction: human hibernation will reduce aircraft emissionsEnglish7·1 year agoHow is hibernation related to air travel 🤔?
I usually just set like a time period that I need to study in, like let’s say 8 hours (with small pauses in between an hour or two).
PS: I’m not autistic, but I do believe I have some spectrum symptoms. I am getting diagnosed in a few months.
IDK, if my friend did that to me all the time, I would probably make sure I see/hear less of him. That would serously annoy me.
But, each to his own I guess 🤷.
