I’ve been running hass.io for 5 years in rentals so all of my gear has had to be pretty portable, but I finally bought a house so I can go as nuts as I’ve always wanted to, but need some recommendations and thoughts.

I’ve got a ton of esphome gear- homemade sensors and cameras, flashed sonoff plugs, and pre-flashed kauf bulbs.

I’m looking for recommendations on exterior PoE cameras, and something that straps onto my electric panel so I can see power consumption on all the legs.

I run Reolink cameras at home and like them fine. Have three cameras and two doorbells.

Might depend on what you want to do with them though.

Also, can you elaborate on what you mean by flashed sonoff plugs and pre-flashed kauf bulbs? Feel like I’m missing something fun there.

I just want outdoor security cameras for live views, not sure about recording\motion yet, I’ll check out Reolink. Thanks.

I just meant I had to flash the sonoff plugs with esphome myself, but the kauf bulbs came pre-flashed with esphome.

I just had several Reolink cameras installed as well and like them a lot. I plan on spinning up a Frigate instance soon but read somewhere that Reolink cams don’t work great for that. Will see how what goes soon.

I’m running the go2rtc addon to create a camera dashboard in home assistant. I basically use onboard SD card storage for my recordings and don’t have a need for a full blown NVR. The cameras have motion triggers within home assistant so I can trigger automations if I want with that.

For the electric monitoring, have a look at OpenEnergyMonitor I have a simple system that monitors grid + solarPV which has worked well for ~8 years…

They have a 6-leg unit (not used it myself) which might be useful for you…

Since you are comfortable with esphome, you can look into the emporia flashed with it. This is what I’m running and it has been solid. $125 for mains and 8 circuits with the ability to add 8 more by just buying more cts.
