    My decade old desktop at home falls under that, and indeed runs snappier than the beast of a laptop I got from work.

      Depending on the type of company you work at, your work laptop will be on a spectrum of “locked down” which will often include a stack of mandatory security software that sometimes doesn’t even play nice with each other. It’s a mess.

      I’ve seen a corpo run a new business fleet (2nd Gen Intel Ultras) that takes 10-15 minutes to become usable after logging in at a fresh boot.
