    If the rest of the EU backs Spain then probably, yes. Will they? They don’t have a great track record of standing up to Trump either collectively or individually.

      Honestly, I do not know what you are basing that on.

      I think you are mixing up two things: EU members trying to avoid immediate escalation with the US, and Europe preparing to reduce its dependence on the US over time.

      Also, because Spain is in the EU, formal trade retaliation against Spain is not just a Spain-only issue. External trade policy is handled at EU level.
