One thing to note for the international (especially US American) audience: None of those people will get fired. The vast majority will leave into early retirement (Altersteilzeit) and some of them will leave voluntarily with a severance package.

Can’t wait for the Chinese EV floodgates to open and watch European car manufacturers beg for their lives. They had 30 years to prepare, did basically fuck all in terms of EV innovation, and lined their pockets and lobbied hard to keep it that way. They fully deserve what’s coming to them.
