Having seen this article make the rounds on Lemmy eight or nine times by now, this is the most clickbaity of clickbait headlines.

An internal slide deck from a decade ago is not a damning smoking gun… nobody was physically staggered when they read that slide deck

What should I do? I just posted tech news that I know, and I don’t know if someone already posted it on Lemmy.

I have no issues with you posting something you find interesting.

Of all the different articles about this Apple internal slide, this article has the most clickbait headline. And that’s what made it worth commenting on.

They say smart people think alike right? There’s a lot of duplicate content spread across similar communities, but I guess that’s probably because we’re all interested in similar things.

XKCD somebody else shared recently that’s sorta on topic

Isn’t that obvious? How else would Google make money from Android? Apple makes money when they sell you an iPhone, but Samsung makes money when they sell you a Galaxy. So, Google makes money by tracking everything you do on that Galaxy and showing you ads.

Not that Apple doesn’t track you. Their privacy policies pretty clearly state they do. But at least you can easily turn off most of Apple’s tracking “features”.

But if you want an OS that doesn’t track you, there’s Murena.

Just as a quick warning, I think /e/OS is still getting ironed out. It’s not fully de-googled and security updates can be significantly delayed. Not that it’s some evil or unsafe OS to be avoided, but it’s definitely with knowing if you end up going with it.

Meme image from a Spiderman animated series in which there are two identical Spidermans ("Spidermen?") pointing at each other. The implication is that Apple is just as guilty of the charge they levied against Google.
