Just no need for streaming services. I love my dedicated mp3 player ( even FLAC!)

I think someone told me about those devices, can’t remember what it’s called- how do you like it? Love the yellow color, looks super pretty

That’s an iPod. Apple’s dedicated music player, which they made obsolete with the release of the iPhone which could do what the iPod did but also make calls. The last iPod was the iPod Touch if I am not mistaken, which was basically an iPhone without the phone part.

Sorry, I probably could have specified it was a clone and saved you the down votes 😅. I only recognized it cause I was chatting with someone in another thread on this comm and they told me about it, and I noticed the icon on the top of the click wheel being difference from the iPod (I’m a ui nerd so I like really enjoy interfaces, hardware or software)

Anyway, hope you have a lovely day :)

              It’s fine. =)

Downvotes don’t mean anything at the end of the day and I’m glad to learn something new. I didn’t know someone out there made music players in the form factor of an iPod after all.

Yes they do but they convert the format to the apple native one for HiRes files (ALAC or AAC). You just need a software that does the trick. Like WALTR PRO. highly recommended for FLAC on stock OS

I still own several and use them frequently. One is a Touch with a weak battery another Nano with meager storage. The best of the lot is an ancient classic iPod that I’ve upgraded the storage from a 32GB 1.8” spinny disk to a 256GB m2 SSD. Works quite well. It has led a rough life and is fugly, but I keep it in my car for tunes without issue. There are kits to get them to 1TB or more I think. Neat way to breathe new life into them.

very strange comment in a community with this in the sidebar: “A community dedicated to the growing trend of using devices for a singular purpose, rather than relying on (often digital) “do everything” devices, like a smartphone.”

I was browsing via all and didn’t really notice the community. I thought someone was trying to identify a device and tried to provide information, but apparently it was a device that looked similar to the iPod instead of the iPod itself.

The iPod is something I still remember being sold everywhere back when I was still a kid, so it stuck in my memory.
