AI@lemmy.ml•Russian TV shows deepfake vid of Ukraine spy boss ‘bragging about terror attack'
12·2 years agoI can’t see this “news” reported anywhere else
Clearly not trying very hard:
https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-68642036 (8:40, “Russian TV airs fake video blaming Ukraine for Moscow attack”)
https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2024/03/deepfake-video-terror-moscow-putin-ukraine-claims/
and The Sun is notorious for making stuff up
And this article cites — with direct link — a BBC reporter’s X post. Well, who is actually “making stuff up” here…
Yet, BBC Verify journalist Shayan Sardarizadeh stated that an AI-generated audio was dubbed over a mismatch of two recent Ukrainian TV interviews.
Exposing the sham, he wrote on X: "The deepfake video has in fact been created as a composite of two recent interviews published in the last few days with Danilov and Ukraine’s military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov.

AI@lemmy.ml•An AI that can play Goat Simulator is a step toward more useful machines
5·2 years agoIn the case of Google/DeepMind’s SIMA it is an instruction-following agent for simpler, but menial tasks in a game. It is particularly not autonomous, and has no notion of reward. And what is being used is a modified behavior cloning with a text-conditioned policy network.

1·3 years agoSo LM Studio has all the color “boxes” like LLaMa, Falcon, etc. it advertises itself with, but to this day apparently still no Mistral? Do they have a target audience that is supposed to be oblivious of Mistral?

2·3 years agoUsually I am cautious to link the blog or press release from a particular, invested party, like in this case OpenAI. And though Bloomberg reporting is not the best to gather other viewpoints, they at least also provide a paragraph or so of additional context.

Science@lemmy.ml•UPenn slammed for celebrating Nobel prize of vaccine researcher it once demoted
37·3 years agoWhat you suggested cannot be further from the truth. The paper that got her the Nobel was from 2005 (https://www.cell.com/immunity/fulltext/S1074-7613(05)00211-6, see also cited in https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/medicine/2023/press-release/), and UPenn claimed in 2013 — at least 7 years later — that she would not be “of faculty quality” (https://www.wired.co.uk/article/mrna-coronavirus-vaccine-pfizer-biontech).
Completely missing in the Lemmy post “summary,” from the W&B’s Conclusion portion:
We are still miles apart from the desktop NVIDIA GPUs and the same analysis from the M1Pro hold today. It’s nice seeing Apple capable of improving the GPU performance over the previous generation, but we will probably have to wait to replace our NVIDIA GPUs.
Don’t get me wrong, the performance per watt is good but we are still far behind what you get on any current Nvidia desktop GPU. Check this report to see how they compare against NVIDIA.

Three side remarks about China, which can be a peculiar example to compare to for Russia, maybe even any other country:
